Zoe: Yeah? Thought you'd get land crazy that long in port. Wash: Probably, but I've been sane a long while now, and change is good.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Bonny, thank you again for talking about bone broth, because it's a lifesaver during this.

I'm so glad it helps!

Goodness knows, it has done me a world of good.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Having a good protein source when you can't actually eat normally is a very good thing.

Scola, I'm sorry yesterday was a bad one, but I'm happy your sprouts were tasty!

I can't get H to roast anything. But he's a master at steaming stuff to the perfect point of still-crunchy and doneness, and adding herbs to enhance the flavors. I've yet to try kale chips, but his steamed kale with mustard-yogurt dressing is to die for, so I'm happy. I don't think anything can rescue cauliflower for me, though he loves it.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

My kids will inhale kale chips.

I'm with Beverly on the exercise front, so far. I feel so much better and have more energy, but still not inspired.

Snow shoveling was easier this time around and I'm taking dance breaks...that Happy song is the bomb...but getting on my spinning cycle has not yet happened.

Hmmm, I'll have to see if I can do a star on my Google calendar somehow.

There are also some phone apps that do this...but I've found a physical printed-out-stuck-on-the-wall-can't-miss-it calendar is the only thing that actually works for me, unfortunately.

When I think of stars on calendars, the inner bitch says "Here's what I think of your stars!" and kicks things over.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

When things are working (i.e., not at the moment), I find stars (or happy faces, or Disney Princesses, etc.) are good in the day-to-day, but I also have to have a longer-term goal/reward. A Disney Princess sticker (don't judge, it works for me) for working out (in some fashion) is good, but the TARDIS watch that's waiting for me to drop the last 6 of my 10 lb goal gives it that extra oomph.

Connie's inner bitch and mine are one. And delaying buying something until I reach a goal has never worked for me either.

There are times when I temporarily forget that I no longer live in the little town I grew up in, which was mostly filled with Italians. I was coming home today and it started snowing (argh!). So, instead of going to the big market I went to the little deli/market just down the street from my house to pick up a couple of things. I'm looking at their shelf of Italian food, and I ask someone if they sell canned Italian tuna in olive oil. Nothing but a blank look and blinking.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Hee. We've started stars on calendars for Ryan. So far he hasn't rebelled. I don't know that there's been much behaviour modification either, he's always been pretty well-behaved.

When he gets 20 stars, we're going to the Zoo together. Oh! Which reminds me, if we visit all three of Melbourne's zoos in the next three months or so, we'll be in the running to win a trip to San Diego Zoo. That would be nice.

Me either. Not since the 90s, where I delayed buying the video "Echidna: The Survivor" for a few months, and by the time I went back for it, it had been discontinued and was not available anywhere.
