I am going to follow that up with my own work vent:
Student, the reason I have a policy against accepting late work or offering make-up exams is because this is a fast track course with a ton of work and there just isn't time for a student to do both make-up work and current work - besides, deadlines are deadlines. Perhaps it was a mistake for me to agree to waive that policy for three items that you missed but you generally do good work and those three things could potentially move your grade from a D to a B- and I wanted to give you that opportunity. I guess what I expected was that you would be at least somewhat pleased that I made an exception for you and that work - what I did not expect was that you would complain to the Dean, in a series of e-mails, that I wasn't letting you submit ALL of the work you missed. I am fortunate that the administration is supportive of faculty but the amount of time I have spent writing e-mails - and the number of people that you copied on the e-mails - is unbelievable.
End of the vent; start of the wine
Wow, nothing like being punished for helping a person out, huh?
Follow up to my rant. It's apparently a musical about the school house shootings in Nickel Mines PA back in 2006.

Not quite a Rumshpringa show.
Nice to see my old professor wrote one of the primary books on the event, that was later turned into a Lifetime Movie.
Oh, this show is going to kill us, or make us want to kill. Which is rather ironic, being a show about the Amish, and all.
and I have a work rant -there's going to be restructring company wide.
I won't go into the details because it's kind of boring but titles/positions are being eliminated but I don't know about the people who hold those jobs. If they are staying or going or whatever. A few positions are being created (it's kind of a consolidation thing).
The only thing I found funny is that the guy who is my cohort pretty much took the job because he wanted to get away from his manager. Who is now our manager. My cohort is already talking about trying to find another job.
my ex-stepmother is totally forgiven for the absent VD card guilt trip. She gifted me a SoupCycle membership. Fresh made vegan soups delivered to my door every thursday (which is conveniently for me a day off-so not a day when any delivery would be waiting on my front porch for possible poaching til nearly midnight.) I'm really touched, it's a super nice gesture and perfect. For weeks i've been eating soup out of a can (a can!) because I just don't have the spoons to wash and chop veggies and toss them in a crockpot. Which seriously should not take that many spoons for a week's worth of numminess, but still. I haven't been able to muster it up. So i'm really touched and thrilled. She's back in my good graces full stop.
Oh, as usual, dear.
but the amount of time I have spent writing e-mails - and the number of people that you copied on the e-mails - is unbelievable.
The amount of time I spend basically trying to find out who has the answer or explaining how I am running around trying to find out who has the answer is stunning. And completely exhausting. Given it's not actually my job, I might just stop caring. Or trying. One of those. Both is tiring.
That's an awesome gift, erin!
I'm so glad , erin. I had no idea such a thing existed. Such a good and thoughtful gift.
Sorry for the stupid work things, my friends. I just had a week off - mostly home with my DH, but this last weekend was in tamalis bay eating osters, cooking and drinking wine with friends - an absolutely amazing weekend and I feel good about going back to work. I kinda like people again.
hope you all have a good week -Tuesday is your restart day. I so decree.
That's an awesome gift, Erin! And only in Portland would there be vegan soups delivered by bicycle.
The more it is zero degrees here, the more I want to move to Portland. Bike courier soup delivery only sweetens the pot, so to speak.
