Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
It's going to be a long month until we get to the anniversary of his passing but I am sort of relieved that I realize why the last couple of weeks have been unexpectedly hard.
(((Cass)))
Anniversaries can knock you for a loop even if (sometimes especially if) you're not consciously aware of them. You'll be in my thoughts over the next several weeks.
Mine, too, Cass. If you want to call and swap Dad stories (or just be silent on the phone with someone who knows what you're going through), do not hesitate to call (if you don't have my number, e me at my profile addy)
Well I feel all productive and stuff. I just rammed a bar of Fels Naptha soap through a crank-style cheese grater and mixed it with some Borox and washing soda to make laundry detergent. But don't ask me how it works yet. After all that effort I am wayyyyy too tired to actually do any laundry.
I am happy to report that, as a former brussels sprouts hater, I am now a roasting convert. A little oil, a little balsamic.
I'm still agnostic on the roasted cauliflower, but the brussels sprouts are of the yum.
Spent the morning helping my neighbor. He's got the same security screen door as me, and being a condo, we all have the same front door. Over the summer I put all matching locks on both the security door, and front door, with handles instead of knobs. Looks nicer, easier to operate, ADA compliant, yadda yadda yadda. He's like 80, and shuffles along with a walker. Real nice guy. I offered to do his locks too. He said no.
This week, he commented that he really likes my handles, so I offered again. He said no. I said, if ya change your mind, I have a 3 day weekend, plenty of time. Happy to do it. Last night he says "is it too late? Maybe next weekend?" I say, let's do it. Went to Home Depot, found two sets of dead bolt/door handle that have the same key, and installed them all. As I was taking the old hardware off, he says he tried this several years ago, but the hole was too small. So I showed how to adjust the latch inside, and how there are two collar sizes around the bolt, depending on hole. Put it all in. Two hours from shopping through install, and left him with a great big smile. Good deed for the day, done. Now I get to be couch potato, right? Hello Olympics! Or house of cards. Or both.
omnis, such kindness deserves high praise!
I'm standing in front of my computer giving you a standing O...that is, when I'm not typing.
Good on ya!
{{Cass}} It is often events rather than actual dates that bring on the sad. With my dad it is Valentines Day because it was his birthday. With my late husband it is ballet because he danced. I don't know the actual dates of their passing because I have a magic talent for forgetting things I don't want to remember and I made a point of not remembering. You will be in my thoughts as Daytona activities continue, as you are often.
Yay for productivity and good deeds. I am trying to do the productive thing, but not so much if I am on here. Bye...
yay for you, Omnis ! Seriously, you have probably helped him more than he r knows yet.
