You could practice by getting a NordicTrack... remember when those things were the fitness craze? We had one for sure.
Congrats to MM!
Quick sum up: had meeting with boss and talked to E. I am not fired but I have pretty much no confidence that things will really improve - boss is not going to be taking that kind of leadership role. I'm not sure he can. Met with mentor last night - he's going to pursue more jobs so he'll have enough work to keep me busy. In the meantime I'm going to pick a thing that I'm good at and want to use to contribute to current company and just do it. I was super drained and depressed this weekend but am feeling a little better now.
not fired is good. sometimes that's as good as it gets for the moment.
I think you're handling this in the very best way. Was there anything said in the meeting which you can learn/change from? Since you can't change your bosses and their lack of leadership, was there anything you can use to help improve your own work? That's usually the only benefit to be gained from a situation like this, sadly.
Scrappy is wise. Smonster, I hope things get better for you.
I'm not allowed to eat anything after midnight tonight for my surgery at 2pm tomorrow. So, I plan on eating all the things today.
Happy noshing, sj! May it provide the strength and morale you need to get through the surgery tomorrow and healing thereafter.
smonster, lots of supporting vibes for you.
I can take the initiative to improve communication among my coworkers, or at least try. Again, not a whole lot of confidence that they will be interested or listen to me - I think I've been somewhat dismissed. They are all younger (25, 29, 30) and don't seem very self-aware.
What I know is: I need to be on time, stay focused, go as fast as I can, and improve the quality of my work. No problem, right?
Typical chaos: today we were to meet at boss' house at 8 am to go do a short task. Three of us get there only to find out that the key for this house is with our coworker, who is on another job over a half hour away. Boss went to get key, E went to get stuff from storage unit and then home, A went home, I came home to do some admin stuff. It's been two hours and we're waiting for the call from boss to go do this. Everything is ad hoc, chaotic, confused. Boss wasn't thinking things through enough to procure key this weekend.
eta thanks for the support and feedback, as always.

Hey, that's my boss! I'm sorry things are so chaotic with your job, smonster. I hope you find a better fit ASAP.
And now work has been cancelled for today and likely tomorrow. So it's off to run errands and then work on stuff at home; tomorrow I hope to have cemetery work.
Many of my friends out here in (this year at least) crazy amounts of snow country swear by their Subarus.
"Foods that Will Win the War and How to Cook Them"?
No, I think it's "Everyday Food in Wartime". It opens with FOOD IS FUEL FOR FIGHTERS! DON'T WASTE IT! There's a lot about getting as many calories as possible while still saving food for soldiers.
I'm glad you weren't fired, smonster. And I hope that something different comes along soon, so you're not stuck in an uncomfortable and, from your description, chaotic situation for much longer.
