I have to say (and nothing against anyone here) I find the chorus of credit union! credit union! kind of off-putting. Again, nothing to do with Zen or David or anyone. Just the fact that pretty much no conversation about banks doesn't end up there sparks my contrariness.

Options for the end of this conversation other than "Credit Unions FTW!" include "what power could we have against the Big Banks that are run on the philosophy that if we don't have as much money as they do, then we don't deserve to have the money that we do have", "help, help, I'm being represssed," and "Occupy Something!"

ETA: Small local banks are wayyyyy better than the big name ones, and can be an excellent option. But as BoA and Chase and the like have proven they love the idea of bank robberies as long as they are the ones doing the robbing, I can but wonder what would happen if every private person and small business removed their assets from the reaches of the giants.

You guys! I'm being social and stuff this week! I went to an opera opening last night with a friend, and tonight am at a theatre opening by myself (both tickets comped, thx former sm life) and was a the store on my way so I got a little bota wine box and a straw and am totally rocking the single slightly drunk gal. Show is supposed to start in ten min and house is still not open...and I know it's a huge stretch for the theatre wrt mechanized scenery...I'm totally ready for shenanigans!

I went to the theater tonight and when I realized they were nowhere near on time, went up to get a glass of wine toooooo. It made it much nicer. God, this annual event would be so lucky to find actual cat wrangling. It "starts" at 7 and intermission this year happened at 9:05. I can't tell you what happens later because I fled. Good performers but it was taking way too long.

Bonny- that dream was amazing, thank you for sharing! Made me cry a little. Possibly because my hormones are already wonked, but also because it's such a lovely, healing metaphor. There's a lot to be said for the unflagging devotion of a canine companion. Sometimes I'm a little sad that early experiences scared me off dogs for life. But I bed my cats would be down with eating some debt cake for me, should the need ever arise.

Erin, the metaphor is resonating in my heart...over and over again. I believe I can actually feel the healing.

By extension, I'm having a Sleepy Hollow/Sin Eater experience. Somehow, the dream seems to have confirmed for me, for once and for all, that I can really let go of the sins of the past. I have no more use for them.

My hormones are wonky too. I cry every time I see Bartleby's face in that dream. I was so, incredibly fortunate to have him in my life. He never hesitated to be what I needed.

Pix and ND, what wonderful news. It is such an amazing thing that you never gave up, no matter how hard it was to slog through that bureaucratic hell. Bravo. The relief and good support you are finding now were hard-won and well-deserved.
