Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Connie and husband, I'm so sorry. Best of ~ma to get through this.
Laura, my God. How scary. I'm happy for the good news.
{{{Sean}}} I'm sorry.
Rage and swear and panic all you need to to get through it.
This. So much. Forgot how smart this place is.
God, Connie, I remember that so well from my mom.
And you can put my mother in that club as well. Conversations face-to-face or over the phone won't end unless I promise I'm OK and had a good day.
Bonny, I can't speak to makeup and video, 'cause that's so not my wheelhouse. But I do website work for a living. I think your website's basic design is sound--clean, nice color choices, and informative. But there are several areas where important-looking text show up on top of your photo, and that makes it very hard to read. I'm viewing this in Safari, on my iPad. Tablets are an increasingly large segment of website page views, though, so even if it isn't displaying that way on laptops/desktop computers, I'd still recommend addressing the issue.
Calli, that is super helpful. Thank you.
I think the design product (website builder, through godaddy)has a feature for saving to devices. I haven't figured it out yet.
I wonder if I ought to have done it in wordpress, which I think is optimized for that purpose.
I'd hate to try and build the site all over again...much less try and wade through the cabillion wordpress templates to find a similar one.
But, you are right...I need to figure this out as I really can't afford to leave anyone out!
Yikes, too much badness for my Bitches.
{{{Sean}}} I'm so sorry. I hope you are able to find something and soon. I understand how hard it must be to have to go on interviews and appear confident when you're in that state of mind.
Laura, I'm so glad you have a neurologist who you can work with that you trust, and tons of no-more-seziure~ma to you.
Connie tons of ~ma to you and your DH. I'm so sorry that he has to constantly deal with these health problems. It must be so exhausting for the both of you.
bonny - I think the video looked good, you looked good, sounded good - most importantly the message soooo good. When you have it up the way you want it, please let us know so we can link on FB.
Thanks so much, msbelle!
I've had some ideas for improvement this morning and will hopefully get it posted this evening. I'd be unutterably grateful for any linkies. To anywhere!
Also, I think I've fixed the photo problem for devices. Calli, or anyone on a pad or tab, could you try it now?
I was using the photo as a background, which apparently slid all over the place. Now, it's just an image that repeats on each page.
Have I mentioned how wonderful it is to have a community of people who will venture into adventures with you and tell it like it is?
Pretty damned wonderful, is what.
bonny, I just checked out the site on my iPad2. I think it must be improved from having words and images overlap, but now the text on the left margin and the photo on the right margin bleed over the edge of the screen. I can pull it in either direction to see it but pinching to make the page smaller to fit the screen does not work.
What Andi said. Also, on the iPhone, the email address is butted right up against the arrows.
Rat farts!!
I did as the godaddy tech suggested and this is the result. What a colossal pain.
The stress for me is thinking that I made a huge mistake is setting up in this tool...which is supposed to be so user friendly and universal blah, blah, blah.
Does this mean I have to scrap it and start again? Is wordpress any more up to date in this regard.
I was so excited to report that I just added an 'audio only' feature so that you can listen rather than watch an episode. (I like to have stuff on in the background when I'm doing other stuff...and, seriously, the looking at me part is not the point!)
Now, I'm just discouraged. Back to tech support.
Thanks for the rapid feedback. So helpful!
::mutteringandwanderingoff::harrumph::
The gd techie says his Android is not having the bleeding problem, so he too has wandered off to check an apple device.
I hate the 'we can't produce the problem' response.
eta: Dude says "It's like having an old browser. Not every device is fully updated, so things might not be compatible."
Great. That helps me not at all because, I'm assuming, the vast majority of people are not dancing on the bleeding edge, and will therefore be put off by my offerings.
W.T.F am I supposed to do with that!
Since when did back-ward compatibility become impossible? No. Wait. I know the answer to that.
