[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Always Anti-fascist!

I thought I would be older before being pissed that more things can't be fixed when they break, Ginger, but it sounds like you made a good choice. Yikes, Aimee. My last attendant used to find it quite amusing that her kid, age seven or so, had learned that his dad was "whipped"(or maybe it was worse and she taught him the full word "pussywhipped"--one tries to block stuff out sometimes. She was German, so maybe she didn't know how vulgar that all came off, but it happened multiple times, so, yikes.(even though I have to admit "pussywhipped" in a German accent is funny, but so was "The Vest Ving" and I didn't have to feel all TMI.)

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

We have an ancient fridge in our laundry room that will probably outlast us all. The fridge in our kitchen looks new, but it makes so much noise, and occasionally freezes our produce. I'm just waiting for it to stop working altogether.

My subconscious hates me. This is the third day in a row I have woken up with my heart racing after a night of anxiety dreams. I hate waking up more tired than I was when I went to bed.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Congratulation, Laga.

Ginger, so sorry for this latest bullshit. I also support your decision to just go ahead and buy another. Seems a cromulent response.

That French kid is so cute! Makes me want to watch Amelie.

Aims, oy. So hard to mediate. Did the black parent keep his/her cool? I'm continually astounded by people who can't understand that racist/not racist is *not* a binary state.

(I will say I really don't like the term "white trash," I think it's the only derogatory term for whites that's even in the same universe as the n word and it's directed pretty much exclusively at poor people. And calling people trash just seems wrong. They're still God's creatures. It's hard, though, when confronted with that level of bigotry. YMMV.)

So much to do and it's already noon. Trying not to beat myself up for taking a lazy morning to unwind from the work week.

pokes head in thread...

Skipping ahead nearly 800 posts to give another round of Congrats! To Laga!! Saw the news in the Facebook. Very happy for you two.

IOmeN, in this crazy, whirlwind academic quarter, where I've been coming home exhausted every night, working most weekends... somehow managed to get a nibble of interest in OKcupid. She reached out to me (woot!). We've exchanged a handful of messages. Last night we started texting. Lots of "LOL"s. And then she called. Two hours! It was a great phone conversation. At one point, there was a "how did we get on this topic?" through laughter. To which I responded, "sign of a good conversation. It just meanders all over the place". Anyhow, we have planned to see the new Hunger Games movie on Saturday. Thank goodness I have this weekend off! So... any date~ma would be welcomed.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Have lots of fun on your date, omnis!

Fun on your date Omnis

Definitely NOT date related: Barbara Ehrenreich on Facebook explains her secret to raising great kids:

"People often ask me how I managed to raise two such brilliant, kind, high-achieving kids. The answer is simple: neglect. My daughter could get her own breakfast at age 2; both were doing their own laundry as soon as they were tall enough to get it into the washing machine. I dragged them with me to meetings where they were told to quietly amuse themselves. This is how to do it."

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

(I will say I really don't like the term "white trash,")

Not piling on, but I feel the same way for the same reasons. Language is tricky bidness!

Yeah, that's how we were raised too.

Not sure I'd call it "neglect" (to defend my Mom). But yeah, I started cooking at an early age because a) I was hungry, and b) it tasted better than Mom's. And she taught us to do laundry by 6th grade. Because a) she didn't have the time to lug 10 million loads down to the laundry room, and b) who likes doing other peoples laundry??
