Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Our wings are not tired.

Ginger, I hope the ick passes quickly.

On odd medical stuff, I was doing a walk through at a customer site a couple days ago and we went into each of the 10 exam rooms to see where we were going to install equipment and so forth. The office manager hit the hand sanitizer every time we entered one of the rooms, sometimes on the way out too. It amused me because it was clearly such a routine she didn't even know she was doing it. Office was closed, no patients, etc. Just a reflex reaction. Kill dem germs.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I was MISERABLE when I got flu, TDAP and pneumonia the same day.

Seconding that. Never again. space out the vaccination schedule.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Because vaccines

Which is honestly an even better reason than "because wine."

Ginger, I hope you feel better soon.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

My mom had polio. Because no vaccine.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I was very, very sick with measles. I wouldn't wish measles on anyone.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I had pertussis because I worked with 1st graders and it is RIDICULOUSLY easy to get a vaccine waiver in the state of Michigan.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

But Washington State, according to a federal study last year of kindergarten-age children, had the highest percentage of parents in the nation who voluntarily exempted their children from one or more vaccines, out of fear of side effects or for philosophical reasons.

Which is why Washington had an outbreak when we were living there. Husband and I got our shots.

I still don't even know how I got pertussis. But, wow, do I advocate vaccines, herd immunity and maybe looking at the bigger picture.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I got pertussis when I was working at a summer program for middle school kids. A bunch of kids caught it that summer.
