Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

You know, I never thought I'd say this, but I am so fucking tired of beer.

You went and turned beer into your job! Maybe if you branched out into cocktails and then deep fried carnival food you'd have a broader palette to write about.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Go, CJ! I'm glad no one was too badly hurt.

Sorry, Nora.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I say you upgrade that glow light to a glow cloud (all hail)

I'm down with that plan! Cecil, make it happen.

Ah, Nora. You've been going at it super hard this last few months. I think a little burnout is normal right now. It's hard to find balance, I think, when you want something so much.

So glad the injuries weren't any more serious, and major kudos to CJ and the rest of the team. A tiny silver lining in this mess, but perhaps they can use the experience when helping others - remembering what it's like to be on the other side of shock and adrenaline.

The hormone switch must have flipped back overnight, because I feel much calmer this morning. Hormones freaky.

Yikes, Suzi. I'm glad CJ wasn't hurt, and was able to keep such a level head and help others. Quick recovery~ma to the others.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Too much competition for professional cocktailing in New Orleans, Hec! Also, I am trying to improve my cholesterol numbers so sadly deep fried carnival foods are also out. Maybe I can branch out into steel-cut oatmeal, though.

I'm at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) and it is so overwhelming here. Last night my body was rejecting beer, but I was able to get over the hump. Looking forward to getting home today and drinking lots of lemonade and iced tea!

I still love beer and the people who make it, just this week it seems quite intense, especially since it's my whole professional life.

(Edit: it's a "my friendship with Abed is a giant cookie!" type of situation, for the Community watchers out there.)

Sorry you're having a tough week, Nora. I hope it improves. You and Tom went to Blue Ginger for dinner when you lived in MA, right?

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Had an ARP meeting at hq today and saw 3 of the 5 boys who were in the accident. Minor bumps and bruises but great attitudes. The driver seemed to get the dose of reality for what it was. I asked him how his parents are reacting and apparently they are already shopping for a bigger truck.

Our big silent auction was Friday night and it looks like we netted $16k. Nice and only a bit below out goal.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

So sorry to hear of the accident, Suzie. Glad to hear everyone is OK, and that CJ done good.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

Well huh, whatever this evil in my abdomen is, heat makes it happy. Like, i knew hot compresses and hot baths were wonderful but who doesn't like a nice warm belly? But then last night I had one of those single use thermal dealies on ma belly left over from work. Had the now normal sensation of a bowling ball pressing on a bruise in the usual place. Moved the heater lower right over it and the sensation just...melted away. Ok, maybe that's just the exact moment that the valium hit in but i really don't think so. Heat really helps. When does that happen? Every injury i've ever had was helped by ice, this by heat. This is a good discovery, especially since my heating pad has one of those automatic timer shut offs so i can go to be with it all up on me and not worry about burning up or electrocuting myself in my sleep. I slept better last night than in months, thanks to a FREAKING HEATING PAD. Can it really be that easy?
