Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Oh Typo, that's quite the misadventure :(

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

It's a crutches day today. Haven't had to use those in a while. At least I already had a quiz planned for today, so I don't have to be on my feet too much.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Your poor mom, Typo! Lots of be-careful and recovery~ma to her. I'm glad she's got you; you're a good son and a good friend (which is of course the ideal, since she made you, but clearly she did a stellar job of it).

Vibes to you, too, Hil (along with ongoing better-job-in-a-better-location~ma).

Compassionately intolerant

Absolutely what JZ said!

I hope your mom recovers quickly Typo.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Oh, Typo. ~ma to you and your mom.

I'm feeling a lot better today. Funny how I keep question myself when I'm sick if I'm really feeling bad or it's just a "meh" day, but once I'm better I can really say that yes, I was feeling sick.

Anyhow, there's a story about a term you have taught me that I think you'd like. I might have told it before - my memory ain't what it used to be.

Few weeks back, I went with a friend to a mutual birthday dinner out (our birthdays are two weeks away from each other). When we ordered, the waiter recommend me of a certain dish, but I thought it'll be too much for me, flavor-wise. So I asked him if they had something more vanilla (and I pronounced it "vanilla", because vanilla in Hebrew is just "vanill"). And, of course, since not all people are buffista-like, I had to explain that poor waiter what vanilla means, and that I didn't mean that I want something vanilla flavor or pronouncing "vanilla" wrong. He took it quite well.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Feel better, Hil.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Man, there should be a rule that only good stuff can happen the week after your wedding. Our washing machine broke Monday night, I have a cold, the half-and-half went bad, and I just got a rejection letter from the romance/erotic book publisher. Boo. I really thought I nailed the hell out of the editing test, too. I felt really good about it.

The pay for the job was exceptionally crappy for the time commitment involved in editing a manuscript, so I suppose it's for the best, but it's just bruising to my ego, you know? I can do this, damn it. I'm good at it.

Well, I will drown my sorrows by taking all the sheets and towels to the laundromat. Yay?

t edit I still have the AMA job, and that's awesome, truly. But only part-time, so I need to rustle up other clients. The AMA job actually pays (slightly) more than my previous job, but, again, it's only part-time, so I have to make up the difference elsewhere. Meh.

The status is NOT quo.

Quick recovery to your mom, Typo. Sorry you're hurting so much, Hil. Sorry your post-martial bliss week isn't going as planned, Steph.

I'm really bummed. I was supposed to leave this morning for three days camping with the seniors in the Channel Islands. Instead, I got really sick overnight (pretty sure I ate some bad chicken at dinner), and when I let work know and got permission to meet everyone at the ferry so I could sleep for a few hours, at first everything seemed fine. But they just contacted me to say that they've decided they don't want me to go since there's a risk this could be a stomach bug. I completely understand the concern, but it sucks on two levels: one, I'm missing out on a great trip with some of my favorite students. Two, there are no regular classes the next two days, which means I'm going to be forced to use three of my five sick days. I've emailed to ask if there's any chance I can join them tomorrow if I go all day today without a problem, which will only cost me one sick day. Bummed.
