Hey, don't worry about it. Nest full of vampires, you come get me, okay. Box full of puppies, that's more of a judgement call.

Steph, do you not have heavy-duty migraine meds, or are they just not working?

I don't take Imitrex (or any triptan) because of the drug's potential for cardiac side effects, given my Dad's family history of heart disease. I take fioricet, which is kind of crap but does tend to work if I catch the headache in time.

Omni, can you buy a burner phone for your vacation, give the number to your friends and turn off your regular phone during the vacation?. And put your email on vacation auto response during the vacation? And still have a job when you get back, I mean.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Well, vacation is a staycation. And the emails/phone calls will be trying to schedule this stupid event. If I don't help out, it could mean my gear is not used properly, which is more headaches for me in the long run.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Can we send B's GF's mom after the manager at the dog walking outfit bonny works with? Oooh.

I am trying to think of an appropriate smite for the dog walkers who messed up so badly then did not fess up right away. Something that would teach them that being an honest screw-up is wayyyyyyy better for your reputation than it is to be the kind of screw-up who tries to cover shit up (says someone who got an award for being awesome right after having confessed to a screw-up). Actually, I suppose the thing for them is to be stuck on the business end of a really long avuncular or materteral* discourse on the wisdom of 'fessing up and caring for one's reputation for honesty such that they heed the advice if for no better reason than to avoid another such talking-to.

Best wishes and vibes for your SiL and the new baby, Laura.

I hope the alternating hot and cold interrupts the nerve nastiness, Teppy.

I am rolling my eyes forever at the people in the Dean's office, omnis.

  • Hey, I learned that there is an aunty version of the word "avuncular". I gotta show it off somewhere.

Compassionately intolerant

Bonny, holy hell! I swear, do you need one of my crutches to whack someone with? A la clue stick??

Honestly, the thing I am proudest of is being totally strung out on zero sleep and way too much emergency caffeine and NOT actually striking anyone...and keeping my voice modulated...and still giving good advice...and then telling them that I am offline and to not contact me unless someone with my blood type is bleeding. That last thing is a cheat because I'm AB- and, frankly, don't know anyone else with that type.

This next bit is legalish, so it will disappear shortly.

::redacted::

I've waited until 8is, so I can still claim to be an adult going to bed at a reasonable hour.

Sweet dreams everybody.

Excellent plan, bonny. Sleep well.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

That is entirely crazy, bonny. What an utterly wretched few weeks you have had...but it sounds like you are dealing with it all admirably!

But it makes me feel like a deadbeat.

Um. You have lost a job and your wedding is a few weeks away --two of the most stressful life experiences a person can have.

If a Buffista had a severence package, THREE job nibbles and a wedding coming up, and THEY had a three day migraine and a recurring cyst, would you think "Deadbeat" if they focused on getting through the wedding before they pursued more job leads? And -- do you still have health insurance? If so, get some pain drugs! No wonder the cyst came back! You are a ball of stress, and your bod is in revolution!

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

What Strix said.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Um. You have lost a job and your wedding is a few weeks away --two of the most stressful life experiences a person can have.

Hell yeah. When I got laid off, I didn't start looking for a job for eight months or so. You're allowed to catch your breath.

Back from urgent care. Got a shot of Toradol in my bottom. Head still hurts, but it should start feeling better soon. Then I really wanted mashed potatoes, so for expediency's sake, we went to the lovely Northside KFC/Taco Bell combo. And I have mashed potatoes.

Yes, but I'm very hard on myself because I'm afraid people will think I'm slacking. Or maybe I'm secretly afraid I'm a slacker.

I got the editing test from one of the services that edits academic papers for publication. Based on my resume, they, of course, sent me a pharmacology paper to edit.

You guys, it's beyond my knowledge base. Seriously. It is doctorate-level shit. I am out of my depth with this one. I'll still do the test, and give it my best, but I read it and just went O_o. Granted, my head is exploding, but...yeah. It's above my knowledge base, I think. We'll see.
