It's even more fun when they start ranting and raving and then realize that there's a person of color within earshot.
I'm not sure this woman would have been smart enough to even be embarrassed in that instance. She went on about the meeting she had at her kid's high school about financial aid and such and how she wanted to say, "Where is the money for us? But you know that wouldn't have gone over well" and she completely missed the complete lack of sympathy as the bread lady said, "No, it wouldn't have" or the fact that I just wanted to get my bread and get away from her as soon as possible.
I just finished my intro letter to go home with our students next week.
Shit just got real, yo.
Casual racism, sexism, and Rush Limbaugh quotes.
Oh, those moments when you wish the "white flighters" would stay flown. Save that bullshit for Rocky and Carlo's.
"whenever I hear people say they're a liberal, it's like they're admitting they just shit their pants"
Whereas conservatives* are like dogs who too stupid to know they shouldn't eat their own shit?
* these dudes. not all conservatives.
Shit just got real, yo.
Woot!!!!!
In other "shit just got real" news - I am testing for my brown belt on Sept 14th! Eeeeeep.
Teppy if it's not too late I recommend going with the slightly larger shoes. By the end of the day your feet will be swelling from all the standing and dancing.
No, my feet actually come out of the shoes when I walk. That's not "slightly larger," and I probably didn't explain it well enough earlier. I do understand the feet-swelling thing, and that I don't want my shoes to fit snugly right off the bat. But there is no way I can do shoes where my feet come out of them with every single step I take.
I think the 1/2 size smaller will be roomy but stay on my feet.
ION, migraine still here. Considering trepanation.
I got the editing test from the AMA (did I say this already? I am SO loopy from the migraine meds), and the e-mail that accompanied it said that several people are testing for the position. I want to believe my chances are good -- after all, I have a LOT of experience in this area, and I'm pretty sure that my former co-worker put in a good word for me -- but I'm nervous about the fact that several people are testing for the position. And that stresses me out.
I mean, okay, I *get* that companies that have a position to fill tend to interview more than one candidate, because that's efficient. I know this. I just...didn't really *think* about it, if that makes sense, until the e-mail that said there are several of us. Ugh.
charming fairytale about a selfish king who learns a valuable life lesson from a old woman quilter
bonny, what story is this? My BFF is a quilter, and I bet she'd like that.
Here you go, Zen.
The Quiltmaker's Gift
The visuals are really beautiful.
Teppy, just edit like you normally would. You are good at what you do, no need to put on special airs. The others don't matter.
Omni, migraines can be mild. I've had mild 'super headaches' since childhood, and they were diagnosed as migraines some years ago. if the headache comes with the extra added bonus of nausea, there is a good chance it is a migraine, even if a mild one
No nausea that I recall. Usually, just feels like my eyeballs want to pop, or feels like my head is inside a church bell when it's ringing. It's maybe once every 4-6 weeks, minimum. They happened more in grad school, so I sense stress is a contributing factor.
sorry - age is a factor too....
and I did a lot of reading about sinus headaches. They are migraines.
