Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Beloveds, you deserve every bit as much care as anyone else. You are not worthy because you only ever ask when there is nothing left for you to do; you are worthy of care, of affection, of kindness and respect simply because you are.
Back atcha, WindSparrow.
Oy, Steph. That sounds like a day.
Bonny, when I saw books on Zentangles in the B&N art section, I thought of you and your mandalas and colouring. Have you ever tried them? There's a bit of "buy the instructions" opaqueness at the official website I gave you, but there are plenty of enthusiasts that walk you through their processes (pinterest had good sources). Here are a few:
I've only done a few, and not in the traditional layout--I use them to fill block spaces and random backgrounds, but it's a very soothing way of working meditatively. I had been meaning to get back into Celtic knot design, but zentangles distracted me (and then I just got OTT drawing, so...).
Everyone should look! It's guided doodling.
My dress is at the tailor's -- she's a little old Greek lady who works magic. She'll have plenty of time to get it done before the wedding.
In my shoe saga, the silver Mary Janes arrived (Zappos is also magic), and they're too big but otherwise look great and I can walk in them no problem. And, miracle of miracles, Zappos had a half-size smaller in stock. Fingers crossed that they'll be just right.
Got smooth mason jars for the centerpiece project.
No more dog puke. Head hurts like all the hammers are being smacked against it. Brownies baking for a meeting tonight, and soon banana bread will be baking to use up the old brown bananas. Possibly I will take a nap after the banana bread is out of the oven.
Have a coke and a smile. Maybe a Tylenol. The coke usually helps my super head aches go away. I keep these cute little 8 oz cans in the fridge, just for this purpose. Just enough to make the headache go away, not so much to keep me up all night... well, most of the time.

Man, if that was all it took to get rid of a migraine, I would buy stock in Coke. Unfortunately it usually takes big drugs and a couple of days.

Oh ita !
I _love_ this stuff. I'm so deep in zentangles, it is not even funny.
I'm staying away from the more culty aspects of the movement, but I've got me some BOOKS and many, many tools.
These last few weeks, I've spent less time on it than I should, for my own mental health, but I'm getting back to it.
Some of the stuff I've seen on pinterest takes my breath away.
I don't have actual _talent_, but I can mechanically make lovely things. The zentangle process has given me so much more to add to my skill set.
I'm really enjoying that flickr link and the mandala video you pointed me to. Many thanks!

Yeah, I've learned to stop calling my super headaches "migraines", as that is a completely different level of pain. I think mine are just sinus head aches, or something. My friend, D, gets some serious migraines. Has a heavy drug that knocks them out. She's amazed that 'this one little pill will kill the most massive of headaches'. Of course, it also knocks her on her ass for the rest of the day, so, she can't just take it willy-nilly.
Hope it passess soon! And good on you for accomplishing so much with it too!
Those zentangles look cool. I think mine would be more of doodletangle quality.
I fear my back may be starting to out again. I think it's a night for a muscle relaxer.
Omni, migraines can be mild. I've had mild 'super headaches' since childhood, and they were diagnosed as migraines some years ago. if the headache comes with the extra added bonus of nausea, there is a good chance it is a migraine, even if a mild one. (Not 100% but very good chance.) Bad news, if that is what it is they get worse. For a long time I could cure with coke, then with coke and asprin. However since I have to take narcotics for nerve pain I don't get migraines. They are mild migraines and unlike people with severe ones there is always something I can do, even though what it is escalates as I get older.
