And if I tell my sister this, it will only make her head swell, and reinforce her smugness about an EA and CPA.
Seriously. I sent her no forms at all, and within a few days, she sent me a cogent explanation of what was going on and what I should do AND found a really helpful E-TRADE FAQ that I had been unable to find. She even offered to help me further if I called her, but I didn't want to take up more of her time.
I sent my uncle's accountant my actual tax returns, followed by some other relevant forms to review (based on my conversation with your sister), and I received absolutely no response for almost a week, at which point I called
him
to confirm he'd gotten my e-mails and he was like, yeah, yeah, that sounds right, let me review everything more thoroughly and I'll call you tomorrow and tell you what you need to do. Except he didn't. So I called the IRS, and they were very clear and helpful too, so I let him know what they said to do, and he was like, yeah, that sounds right. Good job, man.
javachik, insent.
would I use your profile, Java?
I am humbled and overwhelmed.
You guys! I love you. I wasn't going to have a fundraiser, I was just gonna do my own thing. There have been SO many times in my life that I was ready to give up, and someone reached out a hand to help me up. I am squared away pretty well now, despite the Wigglebutts insisting on more and more treats, and I can't let someone get this close to a degree and have to stop.
Anyway, I've received a ton of emails already from people who love Aims and want to help, but my work day is pretty filled until about 5, so I can't reply back to all y'all until then.
And I was bossy with Aimee in an email and she is accepting our coins.

That's what I figured! It was kind of my first instinct as well. But I like it when a bunch of people are involved.

Good. You're a boss; you can be bossy.
I was bossed. Like a ... well, like a boss.
I love us, so damned much. We are awesome. And generous. And kind. And freaking amazing.
Oh, and Aimee, my cousin Rachel who is quite terrific along with being a Divinity Doctoral student at Claremont says to tell you that 1 Peter 4:8-10 and James 2:14-17 says you shouldn't reject hospitality.
I asked Rachel for verses and told her that if Jesus told you to accept the coin, you'd be more inclined to.
