Glamcookie, are your kids' schools early voting polling places, or just Nov. 8? Because early voting starts Thursday in NC, and 2.5 weeks is a long time to keep kids out.
Just Nov 8.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Yeah I'm not really looking forward to the voting situation. Itsunami weird it's in schools and around here it's a weird mix.
I'm driving back from FL and there are ants in the car. I'm at Walgreens to get some kind of ant trap for my car until I can clean it properly.
Glam, I think you should be okay. If you are *really* concerned, you could check the demographics of those polling stations. Which sounds awful. I think and hope it's just a lot of posturing. If they were in an area where a poor black population butts up against a more rural white population, then maybe?
Preschool is in West Raleigh (2 minutes from our house) and elementary school is in Cary.
Glam, I am paranoid and would probably keep them home that day.
In GA the school was a polling place but the voting was in the gym and it was really separate from the student entrance. So my decision might be swayed by the layout of the specific locations. (Now my polling place is a Unitarian Church, which might tell you something about my neighborhood. In this city they seem not to vote at schools.)
I'm less worried about the elementary school as it is a large school and I'm sure they'll keep voters away from students. The preschool is in a church and seems less secure...
I've missed having an outlet for these types of discussions. You guys are the best!
My voting place is the Elks lodge, conveniently right across the street from my house. I plan to be there when they open November 8. Get in, do the thing, get out. This plan better go smooth.
With La Divorce, I've had a hard time finding a "safe" place online to talk. Not that I'll bring any of that nonsense and bullshit in here because I'm (hopefully!!) back, but after dealing with the initial hurt and heartache of being here last night, I think I've come to realize that being here is a great place to be to have those conversations I miss.
Of course, the challenge is going to come in where I want to continue a conversation but have to do shit like, ya know, teach.
Glam, the schools are polling places but don't shut down on election day?
Our is and does; it's always a teacher work day. That said, I'm not going to bring Mal with me to vote, even though I don't expect interference at our polls.

And I haven't wanted to talk with you about it in a publicer place. I hope you are doing OK (it seems like you are), but if you need to vent...
