No, carbs are the devil! Subsist only on air!
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I love my triple-chinned doctor (who has "unfortunately" been on an effective diet these past few months, darn him). He has learned that lectures only annoy me, that I am very intelligent, know the risks, and am taking full responsibility for my behavior. He gives me the numbers, looks stern and says "Not as good as last time, is it", I agree and shrug, we stare at each other for a few moments, then we move on. Though sometimes it's "Wow, look at the improvement! What have you been doing?" and I say "Not a damned clue."

Like the friend who was appalled that I dared to eat a scone after going to the gym and said it "undid all the work I did at the gym."
This is not someone who knows how the human body works. (Or *does*, but just wanted to subtly indicate that anyone as fat as me should be running on the treadmill endlessly, perhaps with breaks for water and steamed memories of broccoli.)
Though sometimes it's "Wow, look at the improvement! What have you been doing?" and I say "Not a damned clue."
Going off Lexapro broke my hypertension. I've had to take BP meds for the past, I don't know, maybe 10 years? I had hypertension *before* I took Lexapro, so it's not like stopping the Lexapro just reverted me to normal BP.
For some reason, stopping Lexapro dropped my BP down into normal range and it hasn't gone back up. I asked my doctor about it, and his response was "I don't know, but if I figure it out, can I write a paper about you?"
So far upping my Prozac had made me gain more weight and hadn't done a thing for depression.
Whoa, Steph, your doc really is amazing, admitting to not knowing something.
I am still not over Daniel's doctor a statin for him. Fat? Check. Diabetic? Check. High cholesterol? Nope. Not even close. Total number in the 130 range, LDL had not broken double digits. I happened to be in the exam room with Daniel when the doctor brought it up. So I told him to actually look at the numbers and then I asked him how low he wanted them to go. The guy. Would. Not. Do. It. Riiiiiiiiiight. Although I strongly suspect the doctor to be squished between corporate medical policy and medical insurance companies pressure to follow a script, I flat out do not care. If there is no option for not prescribing a cholesterol-lowering medication to someone with low choloesterol, what the hell kind of policy is it? Leaving aside the prudence of unnecessarily prescribing to a diabetic person an unneeded drug that has a known side effect of high blood glucose, because that does not compute. Where it stands now is that the doctor writes the script and Daniel does not take that medication.
I have a weaning question. I have started giving ltc milk during the day instead of breastmilk. So, I'm only bf her morning and night. Suddenly she is waking up between 3-5 soaked and wanting to be, where previously she only work at 7:30 and not usually that soaked. Any advice on what to do?
Hil, I'm sorry that you're in so much pain and no one is helping.
Where it stands now is that the doctor writes the script and Daniel does not take that medication.
So Daniel couldn't just refuse the script?

That's the very definition of absurdity. "Here, take this medication, even though you DON'T have the condition it treats."
Total number in the 130 range, LDL had not broken double digits.
Jesus Christ, there is NO REASON anyone with those numbers should EVER be taking a statin. That is fucking irresponsible of that doctor.
I would kill for those numbers (though maybe mine are better than they used to be; I'm a bit overdue for a cholesterol test myself [and by "a bit" I mean "more than 1 year, maybe 2", and yes, I KNOW I need to do it]).
I have a weaning question.
I didn't give the boys milk before they were 2 as recommended because of the family history of diabetes. When they started nursing less I gave them more solid food to hold them over. They only drank water and juices.
