[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Ugh. I hate fireworks. They set my anxiety off too. Every year I forget that there will be a ton of fireworks when we visit Mom. I guess we'll soon find out what ltc thinks of them.

Thrive to spite them

At first I thought there was someone pounding on the side of the house. And that freaked me out.

They seem to have stopped. Even with my general anxiety levels a lot lower day to day I just startle so mich easier and I'm not sure why. Need to ask my therapist about this.

I want the cataract surgery that gives you 20/20 vision with a new lens. How come I have to have cataracts first? I'm legally blind, dammit, isn't that bad enough.

You don't have to! That's essentially the surgery I had! Implantable contact lenses.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I've also got a really strong prescription in my left eye, which would make my glasses really heavy with regular lenses, so I need to get the expensive super-thin lenses.

Yep, this. My script is so strong, my glasses would be too heavy to wear without the expensive super-thin lenses. Somehow, I've gotten away with very little astigmatism, though.

I've been taking walks on the beach and skipping a bra. Just t shirt and shorts when not in a swimsuit. There are not a lot of people down and I decided I'm a middle aged fat woman with a bad hair cut and a sunburned face. I can go braless here and no one will care.

You're on vacation! You're supposed to get to be carefree.

Even with my general anxiety levels a lot lower day to day I just startle so much easier and I'm not sure why.

That was happening to me for about three years - bad startle response. Don't know why, don't know why it went away. So... there's hope it'll just go away, I guess?

You don't have to! That's essentially the surgery I had! Implantable contact lenses.

Whoa! I have to talk to my eye doctor about this. Because seriously, my vision is so bad, y'all. Trifocals are in my near future and I'm sick of carrying around multiple pairs of glasses.

Now that I've said it, though, I'm scared of eye surgery! Like, it ain't broke, don't fix it? Except it is kinda broke. Except it works! What if I have the surgery and I end up with some awful problem and it's worse?

Hello, anxiety.

I was going to work some more but I'm exhausted.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I was going to work some more but I'm exhausted.

I say this as someone who works from home, often this late: STOP WORKING AT 11 p.m. (if not before).

Zen, not nearly so many people do it as do Lasik, but my eyes were too bad for Lasik. (I think at the time of surgery I had like, a -14 prescription?) And now I don't have 20/20 but it's like, 20/30 or something (...I should probably go back to the eye doctor, it's been over a year since the last time, but it's been like, three years since surgery?). I don't wear glasses on the daily (but do have a few $10 pairs from Zenni just for fun)

Okay, it's midnight-thirty, I'm stopping working.

meara, -14 is worse than mine, you win! Mine are -9 and -10. And you've had no problems at all?

meara - Jun 28, 2016 7:28:04 pm PDT #25244 of 30002

I have a little bit of halo-ing at night, and my vision is definitely worse in low light than in sun, but that's not the surgery, just that maybe we should've gone a bit stronger with the lenses. But basically the surgery and all the eye drops after were a huge PITA but it was the best ~$6k I've ever spent?

Our wings are not tired.

Okay, it's midnight-thirty, I'm stopping working.

It still is absurd, but I have been really strict about my 10 PM work stoppage rule. Not saying it is 100%, but I'm getting better. It is a sleep regulation thing. Need to turn off brain to get good sleep.

Being able to see without glasses is a beautiful thing. The thing with the contacts is the possibility of swimming while seeing and the whole waking up in the middle of the night and seeing is awesome too. My big issue with the contacts is that I need to take them out more often. I am bad and tend to put them in and then not take them out for too long.
