I have a friend (the same one who's been fighting an undiagnosable digestive condition for months) who's asking for specific probiotics recommendations. Anyone have suggestions?
Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Florastor is a bit expensive but pretty good. I also like the Pearls brand.
Looks like there are a few types of Pearls -- any one in particular? And thank you.
I used the Pearls IC for 2-3 months when my GI tract was jacked up. That formulation has more strains of probiotic bacteria in it, so it seemed like it would be more helpful when things are actively jacked up. And it definitely did help.
Awesome. Thanks again.
RE probiotics: Get something with a high bacteria count (10 billion or more) and expiration date and a guarantee that there will be live organisms up to the expiration date if stored properly. Get something with a variety of ofganisms. try different brands till you find one that works. Essentially you are farming, finding something that will thrive in your gut.
Further re probiotics: common wisdom is that the best ones don't need refrigeration. But I find that the ones that require refrigeration work best for me. Again you are cultivating good bacteria that will eat harmful microrganisms. So what will work for you is very individual depending upon what kind of environment your body is for these things. You want to try various ones till you get the livestock that can flourish in your body.
I overdid it yesterday because I felt so good, and I'm paying for it today. Take care!
I took a nap! I hope you had a more restful day, amyth.
Oh smonster, I am sorry this is his big touchy point.
sj, it is so great that you have your mom to help. It was a lifesaver for me to have family around when the boys were young. Being able to shower without worry is a bigger deal than one would think.
So I went for a checkup and chest x-ray. The doctor said I was a big wuss cray baby and all was well. The chest congestion was just a thing after general anesthesia and my wounds were healing well and not infected. Well, maybe he didn't say the thing about being a big baby. He did say to walk as much as possible and nap when I felt the need. So I came home and napped for 3 hours.
Walk as much as possible, sure, but don't overdo it. I feel like you are an overdoer.
(((((smonster)))))
Please be gentle with yourselves so you can heal, amyth and Laura.
Good luck and a little bit of healing~ma, Shir.
I hope you feel completely better after some rest, sj.
