[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

It's the way it is.

I just tripped over Penny and was trying not to fall I broke my fall partly with my right hand but most of the weight went on my bad knee. It didn't twist, thankfully, but it hurts. So I'm icing it. I'll have to see how it feels later and tell them this in PT.

Today I went to:

Physical Therapy, Regular Therapy, and took Penny to the Vet. The vet cooed over Penny. The Feliway did the best it could so there were no bodily fluids but lots of meowing. She got her shots, I have tablets to tranq her. Wednesday is a test run. Actually the vet said "put her in slow motion" . She liked the vet, but then she pretty much likes everyone.

And she's kinda close to me but not close enough for me to touch. I think she's having some trust issues.

Our wings are not tired.

Hi all! Been too busy. Interviewing 5 people tomorrow. Ugh, I must have read 300 resumes. The last thing I have time for, but really need to get some more help. I did hire 1 person last week. She did well her first week. Under the category of stuff one can't say out loud, damn this girl is huge. There is a physical element to the work which was made clear in my emails, and she doesn't have an issue with the work, so I don't either. I worked with her all week to train her. My crews over the years have included people from a variety of nationalities, ages, genders, religions, orientation, and sports team preferences, and that has never been the basis of my hiring. But I have to say it is hard not to notice how big this woman is, and I hang with some really big people! Don't hate! I'm not judging, just not blind.

Some day I should get my whole bunch together for a picture. It is a pretty diverse bunch. Not planned, just worked out this way.

My receptionist is a 60-something gentleman from Cape Cod. Super proper and dignified. My records people include a woman that has been in 4 Olympics and is a seriously fit specimen of womanhood, a tiny flamboyant Filipino man half her size, a Haitian mother of 4, and my new Texas ranch raised woman. My bookkeeper is a 64 year old grandmother, and my programmers come from Ecuador, India, and Memphis. Then there is DH and my boys, and half the time a basketball player college student or two that is helping out doing something for extra cash.

It could be the variety of backgrounds makes for more interesting discussions. We shall see how the interviewees I meet tomorrow fit into the mix. Mostly I already think they are okay from their resumes, just have to make sure I don't get any ax murderer vibe or something.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Laura, I love you. Your hiring practices should be standard, everywhere.

I have gradually stopped dealing with a small niche company who carries the merchandise (fountain pens, inks) I'm interested in. I got a serious wiggins the third time they published a company photo, and every face was white. That's just not on.

I share a data plan with Mom and I don't know exactly what's going on but there is something on her phone that is updating and eating up most of the data usage in the first week of the billing cycle. I have no idea what it is, she's taken the phone to Verizon and supposedly had all updates to switch off when she doesn't have wireless. But I'm beginning to suspect there is something she's watching or doing when there's no wi fi around that's causing this. It's only 1 gb of data because normally we're not big data users. I think for this month she's going to have to upgrade the plan with the travelling.

Once I'm there I can see what she's doing and try and figure out what's happening and fix it. Because this just started going on and I don't know if she's changed the way she uses her phone or if she downloaded an app that's gone rogue.

Mostly I want to know what's going on because the mystery is driving me crazy.

Mom will be here a week from tomorrow. Today I didn't do anything. I don't know what happened. I woke up, I did something, I finally realized it was almost 5 pm and made dinner and now I'm looking around at all the stuff I need to do. I should have tranq'd the cat today but I'll do it tomorrow and see how she reacts. The big test will be getting her in a car and driving around.

I am so over living here. I packed a box with linens and winter stuff and realized it's right in front of the bedroom door nit good. So I went to move it ... by pushing it. It wasn't heavy but it seemed easier than lifting it and less likely fir me to trip over something.

Only not so much. The mobile home is uneven. I know this. There is a lip in the hall I know this too. But didn't factor that into pushing the box so it got stuck I tripped, fell on the box crushing it and stubbed my toe. My knee seems fine. I also need to make more room to put boxes and move the stuff going to habitat for humanity out of the bedroom. Its going to be like tetris.

And something positive. .. I told mom I need to get my hair cut since it's getting shaggy and she was like noooooo wait! There us a woman in the town that specializes in short hair and Mom said I should wait and let the woman work her magic.

Oh askye, moving always sucks even in the best of circumstances. I'm sorry that obstacles keep presenting themselves. Cool that Mom has a hair person for you. Something fun to look forward to.

And here I am up before 6 again working. At least it is writing instructions for the new people. I have 3 new employees that I hope will take some of the burden off.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Askye, good luck with the move.

Laura, I hope the new employees work out well.

This is Mom's day to be here, but she had a doctors appointment today which ran long. I would really like her to get here now with food and then so I can take a shower and without worrying about ltc crying the whole time.
