"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

Frosted Mini-Wheats: For this most recent move I looked into the pods, and they were HELLA expensive. I ended up with a UHaul 10-footer as the only realistically affordable option. It's a pretty big cab - I guess it depends on the carrier, but there's a decent amount of space. My cross-country moves I did in rental SUVs.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Hil, I hate that. I mean, it's a little satisfying in that it did exactly what it's supposed to, but now you have to deal with it. Yuck.

What she said. I assume your department has a protocol in place for cheating, but it always leaves a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the semester.

meara - we already checked about that using one of those is about the same cost as renting a truck.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

In my experience moving all my stuff across states in trucks, while refusing to give up one single possession...

Check out Penske, I've used them instead of U-Haul, they are one-way with unlimited miles. If you're renting an SUV type of vehicle, I'd go with a cargo van. Easier to drive than a moving truck; will hold more stuff than an SUV. A ten-foot truck will carry all your stuff if you live in a one or two bedroom apartment. You can also rent blankets from the rental place to wrap around furniture so it won't be damaged; you return them with the truck.

Moving vans can be tricky to drive, it's not impossible but get used to how it handles before you hit the road, and remember you need a lot more space to stop in.

I've never used Pods, but they would be easier in that you wouldn't have to drive the van. Going by a friend's experience, you may end up in your new space without your stuff for a couple days, though.

Zen, I'd like to do the cargo van but I can't find a place that rents cargo vans for one way trips. It may just be here in Vermont it's an issue. I'm going to call around and see what the options are. But I've looked at all the major moving companies and the car rental places and from what I've been able to find for a one way, out of state trip it's either renting a large SUV or a 10' moving van as the smallest options.

When I moved up here from Florida I used UHual's pod thing and ended up without my stuff for a week because there wasn't something in my town (even though I was told there was) and the place the Uhaul pod was there was only 1 trailer to move it and someone else hadn't returned it yet. So about a week without my stuff.

Although poking around I've found some cheaper car rentals that would mean it would cost about the same to move by van or by the Ubox system.

Always Anti-fascist!

Buffistas in our daytime finery at either Rawhide or Organ Stop Pizza, which is literally a pizza place with a giant pipe organ is a frequent local-f2f fantasy although Jilli would make the look, especially at this time of year-- the other tourists would not know what to think.

For the cheating on this quiz, I'm giving them a warning (there were two of them) and having them sit in the front row for all future quizzes. I'm just kind of irritated about the whole thing, and a little bit of "Seriously? You can't even cheat better than that?" He not only copied the wrong form of the quiz, but the wrong problem.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Ugh, Hil. I'm sorry.

All three of us are just recovering from colds, and now TCG is home sick with some sort of stomach ick. I'm hoping it is nothing contagious.

I had PT again. There's still swelling in my knee so when I move and get settled I'll need to get it checked again. Unless the swelling goes down. I also had regular therapy and I will have 2 more vists, that's it. Makes me sad. She's a good therapist.

My knee is sore a cross between over doing the bending and not being vigilante about the at home exercises.

I did find a pair of jeans that fit today! See I lost 30 lbs, I bought new pants, I got rid of the old pants, I ganed bakc the 30 lbs plus some. Now my pants are snug. Now I have pants that fit in the waist. And are a little snug in the thighs but they are skinny jeans. Because the jeans I have are way too tight to wear on a drive to NC.

I talked to one of the students. He says that he didn't cheat, but there was writing on his desk, and he "might have" copied some of that. @@ The other one didn't come talk to me (I'd written "Come talk to me after class" on their quizzes), so I'll email him.
