TCG had to change her diaper in the car for the first time
My little two-door SAAB coupe was not very useful for diaper changes. It was bad enough crawling into the cramped back seat to strap the twins into car seats (a process we call "Daddy Yoga" in my family). There was no room left for diaper changes.
So I set up a diaper changing station in the trunk. I could be found on any street, with the trunk lid open and two boys inside, one boy peering over the tail lights and waving at passers-by as I changed the other one.
It wasn't unusual to hear people behind me taking a cell phone picture, and I was always worried that I would find myself on the cover of Time with a caption like "The New American Dad."
Very innovative, Rick!
We had a special new baby-backpack which came out with a folding pad that we could put Emmett on while we changed him.
We used that thing all the time, most frequently in GG Park, but once in the men's bathroom at Best Buy in Fremont. (Which did not have a changing station.)
Brilliant, Rick!

We registered for travel folding pad for changing her. We didn't get it, but I'll have to pick it up with one of the gift cards we received.
We are quickly beginning to judge restaurants less by the food and more by whether or not they have changing tables.
Don't forget to check and make sure there are changing tables in the mens and womens restrooms. I know my brother would run into issues with access to a changing table b/c they were mostly in the womens restrooms.
Yes, that is a problem as well. Especially since it is often easier for TCG to change her. Although he did learn the trick of seeing if there is one hiding in the handicapped stall.
Some places now have a "family bathroom" which is where you would find a changing table.
Clever and funny, Rick!
We had a stroller that could be set completely flat for a sleeping baby. That plus a folding changing pad was our go-to for changing diapers at places that didn't have changing tables.
SO glad to hear Buffistas are being not only inventive but responsible. I've heard stories of people using tables in fast food restaurants (as in, where people eat) to change their babies. ick ... and I once saw someone using the folding table in my building's laundry room; these days I carry a paper towel saturated with cleaner and scrub the table down before using it.
I have my new computer! It took forever to set up, but it's working now.
And now I'm sleepy and achy. I have no idea why. I had a fairly normal day today -- work, then computer store, then grocery store, then home -- but my body feels like I ran a marathon or something.
