Java cat, I have no advice, but much sympathy for those who've lost their homes. So terrible. When you do get a site up, maybe post the link in Beep Me?
eta posted too soon
askye, what amych said - I'm sorry this hasn't worked out the way you wanted, but it sounds like the plan for your next step is a good one for you. Isolation is bad (I've learned, though I crave it). Much coping~ma to you! Such change is hard to deal with even without anxiety etc issues.
amych, are the NC Buffistas all located in the Triangle? In other words, if someone were to move to NC and wanted to be near Buffistas, would anywhere outside the Triangle be an option?
Thanks amych. Vermont has been good for some things but it just didn't work out.
And when I get to NC it will be in the Ashville area. I don't think that it's going to magically change anything but I'll be able to see my nephew and my mom and my brother. Hug them. maybe even work on my relationship with my brother who knows.
Togethering would be very nice.
Good luck with the effort, askye.
Ignore my previous post.
We used Crowdrise for the big ride fundraiser I do every year and we loathed it, ftr.

Places that have family/friends in them are better than places that don't. Yeah, as my therapist-at-the-time told me disapprovingly, moving to a different state won't magically make everything better, you'll still be you with your same problems. But! You'll be you in a place that's better for you, and that can make big difference. Just being closer to my (amazingly annoying) family made me a lot happier.
Askye, if you move to Asheville, you may have some or all of the NCistas inviting themselves to visit. IJS. Asheville is gorgeous and seriously awesome. I miss being able to visit Asheville (and think about moving there) more than my hometown. Nearby Black Mountain is a hotbed of lit'ry sorts, and has been for just about a century. Poets, novelists, more artists and artisans than you can shake a stick at, plus craftsmen in every medium imaginable, and from every culture, immigrants and Natives alike. If I could take NC weather, I'd move to Asheville in a heartbeat.
The family lives about an hour away from Asheville but that's still fairly close.
When I was a kid my grandparents would rent a house near Ashville and summer up there or most of the summer. I visited there and went to summer camp there for 2 years. I have good memories of the area.
I think....well I have a lot to think about and I need to sleep and go to work and deal with that.
Also think I'm getting a cold because I've felt cold all day and I'm sniffling and feel kinda achy.
This struck me as a perfectly Buffista thing - technology, Legos, chocolate.
