The status is NOT quo.

Drew owns the cake or death Tshirt, which should surprise no one.

Hello all. I am drowning in work. Hope to surface again someday.

My family has the weird superstition that the baby should not leave the house for the first 30 days. But, I know that's my family drama (it's not news that we're crazy) If I saw someone with a baby out, I would not accost them in the street!

Our wings are not tired.

I took the baby to work with me after a week. Every day. I did ask the doctor about it and she said it was all good. Just last week I was at a big outdoor party and there were 2 babies less than a month old. Of course it goes back to what works for you and TCG is all that matters.

eta: note that I did not have a c-section, because I would certainly not have been driving to work at 7 days if that were the case!

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

I had wondered whether I should start taking a drug that normally affects the immune system while I had symptoms of a respiratory infection. My oncologist wanted to attribute my symptoms to the cancer, which has been her response several times in the last six weeks. I went to my PCP, and I have pneumonia. I just sent a snippy e-mail to my oncologist.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

She's lucky you restrained yourself to "snippy".

My oncologist wanted to attribute my symptoms to the cancer

To a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Glad you got a second opinion. Mucho lung-ma!

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

It's definitely a good thing that my plan for tomorrow already was that I'd stay at home and grade quizzes and get some prep done. The way my ankle's feeling, I don't think I'd be able to handle teaching tomorrow without my walker, and I don't feel like explaining the walker to people. (Though people have been relatively OK about my ankle brace -- one person who asked actual relevant questions, one person who asked annoying intrusive questions, and a couple people who've stared. Not too bad.) (I've already figured out completely stair-free routes to all my classes, just in case I need them. My usual routes have one or two steps, but I found ways around those. Though those ways often involve walking all the way around a building, because there are many buildings on campus that have internal stairs that make it impossible to enter on one side and get to a classroom on the other side without using stairs.)

Yeah. Hope the lungs are much happier soon.

Holy jesus, pneumonia? In someone with compromised immunity?

To a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

Not to indulge too many of my own issues, but oncologists seem to have horrible tunnel vision. Maybe they have to, it's got to be a grueling specialty, but it seems they're dealing with a checksheet of symptoms and reactions, not a person who may be feeling overwhelmed.

And that's enough of that for me for the moment. Get well soon, Ginger's lungs.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I'm so glad you saw the PCP for a second opinion, Ginger. This means oncologist backs off and lets you recover, yes?
