Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

No, I'm pretty sure it means that she wants us on our knees begging for her forgiveness.

Don't play that game. The only way to win is not to play.

(I know you wouldn't, but I read that and it just sets off so many alarm bells. Even if you begged for forgiveness, it wouldn't set things right. It would just "confirm" for her that you are horrible, because by *her* "logic", lovely people don't ever do anything that requires forgiveness.)

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The only way to win is not to play.

I concur. I've seen many snit-fit parents making the "I disown you" gesture and it's just shitty manipulation. They always crack and come back. But they're still awful people.

TCG's mom? She's a total asshole.

Because books.

Jesus, sj, what the hell? That must be so hard on TCG.

I've heard several people say the same thing, and that makes sense. I'm definitely looking forward to the day when she can actually tell me what she wants, even if the answer won't always be to her liking.

I think, if I remember correctly, the terrible twos is actually the second year of life -- which is where Rose is now. So soon it will be over(ish)!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

The only way to win is not to play.

So true.

I found the twos not so terrible, but that might have just been my kids. PS don't ask about the threes.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Don't play that game. The only way to win is not to play.

Oh, I'm out. She said awful things about me, and it is obvious that she thinks that I'm the one that needs to apologize, which isn't going to happen. What TCG does is completely up to him. I'm not going to be the wife who tells her husband he can't have a relationship with his mother.

From a purely auntie point of view, I find children to be the most difficult when they're three.

So yesterday I attended a baby shower for my beloved SIL. I sat at the same table as a cousin from another state. It was great to see her in person since we only see each other on Facebook. She then told me with real tears in her eyes how much she appreciated how so often I would post loving and supportive comments on her daughter's page. I surely gave her a confused look at this point. Her daughter is a wonderful young woman who recently got engaged to her partner in a most adorable way. of course I am thrilled for them. They are incredibly well suited and obviously deserve happiness. She then went on to tell me that she has to endure cruelty and hatred on a regular basis. Now I want to cry. The pain this mother feels watching people hate her daughter. The world is changing, but not even close to fast enough.

Oh, Laura. How awful. I'm sorry your cousin's daughter has to put up with that, but she's lucky to have you in her life (as are the rest of the people that know you). And it sounds like she has a wonderful mother as well.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

sj, holy shit, MIL is terrible.

Laura, wow. holy shit, people are terrible.

smonster, I hope you experience some relief today. Ugh.

I was up working until 2:30 in the morning. Got woken up by fighting dogs (not ours) at 7:30 this morning. To say I feel like warmed over ass today would be an understatement. Not to mention the stuff that I was working on, I did so that people would get it first thing this morning. No response to either item I spent the weekend working on.

In short: I have a thumb up my ass.
