I should back out of a Facebook argument with a friend of a friend who is defending the Confederate battle flag and just called me "darlin."

I never know how to respond to such sexist, belittling comments disguised as compliments. Without cursing, I mean.

I just stopped responding. I'd already said everything that I wanted to say, and his last post was saying that the flag doesn't represent the Confederacy -- it's the battle flag, so it represents the army, and so anything that I could say about how the Confederacy was racist is irrelevant -- and that was just so stupid that I gave up.
