Buffista parents with opinions about baby products and specifically what I need to be registered for, I would really appreciate your help. I'm finding that there is an overwhelming number of options out there, and I'm sure you know better than I do what I actually need.
sj, I forwarded you some messages a friend sent me that still apply. Looking back, I can't believe how much stuff I absolutely didn't need, or only used for a short period of time (counted in weeks for infants) and then had to store/ship to someone/get rid of -- which proved to be a pain the arse.
Thanks, Sparky! That is super helpful.
Lots of onesies, lots of burp clothes, crib, multiple crib sheets, a plastic fitted crib sheet to put under the crib sheet, baby monitor with two handsets, a rocker with an ottoman for the nursery, a nightlight or nightlights for master bath, nursery, hall or bathroom.
LOTS of diapers, a stank-proof diaper can, lots of baby wipes and a baby wipe warmer, a humidifier, car set, good stroller, a Boppee for breast-feeding (or just supporting baby when you hold her/him, a bouncy chair, changing table, Desitin, breast pump (if breastfeeding), clove oil, Ambesol, small ice pack for teething.
Band-Aids, Bactine, Honesty Line of baby items ( cleanser, food, etc.) A CD or MP3 Player for the nursery to play relaxing songs for you and baby.

WINE FOR MOM!
That's all I can come with on half a cup of coffee.
It has been a couple decades so not real recent memories of this. Mostly I remember that babies really don't have a lot of needs. Love, diapers, and I used a lot of little cloths or wet wipe things. I also had several of the tiny lightweight strollers. Had them in all the vehicles, office, house, must have had a half dozen. My kids were big and heavy and if they weren't in some type of body carrier they were in mini strollers. The big super strollers I found to be annoying.
Where are you registering, sj? 1 place, or a few?
sj, you're going to get lots of conflicting advice, so take everything with a big grain of salt, and remember, you don't have to make all the decisions now! There will be plenty of time to buy most things you might feel you need later. That said, of course, I have opinions too, and a long email that I wrote up for a friend last year with my recommendations. I can forward it to you -- is your profile address good?

Yes, profile address is good. I'd rather have buffista advice than advice from almost anyone else.
