Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I also should add that 60 is not dangerouis if it happens rarely or for short periods. Often or over the long run might be a different story.

I don't know anything about diabetes, but I hope you're able to figure out what will work for you, sj.

Laura, good luck and patience with all of that.

I've been coughing for a month and a half now. The latest round of meds that the doctor gave me seemed to be working for a while, but I'm coughing even worse today.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

sj, SO happy to know all is well with you and babes (just read speedily through the hospital visit and my heart could scarcely take it). GD sucks! I failed the 1 hr glucose test with both pregnancies and somehow passed the 3 hour test both times. I hope you are able to manage it without too much annoyance and your family best be standing there with all of your fave eats post-birth!

Lots of x&o and ~ma to all of y'all!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I have never heard of a blood sugar target below 70. 60 is low blood sugar. Not dangerously low, but not good and definitely cranky territory. Maybe GD is different but was that target given by someone who is a diabetes specialist? 120 is an ok top figure - I mean really it is good if you can manage. when you say post breakfast you mean two hours after breakfast? cause sooner you can't expect to be under 120.

Yes, it is printed on the food diary that the dietician gave me; I haven't met with the diabetic counselor yet because apparently there is only one and her father died. Yes, two hours post meal is when I test.

The 60-95 is supposed to be my blood sugar only first thing in the morning after I have fasted for 10 hours. I've never been below 99 for my morning fasting number.

Or by the nurse who flipped out over 1 gram of carbs? Because this nurse is quickly losing credibility with me.

No, this was on the form given to me by the dietician.

Our wings are not tired.

Is the cough related to allergies, Hil. Post-nasal drip can cause a serious persistent cough.

sj, Typo's comments sound right to me. Besides my own GD for both pregnancies, all my siblings are diabetic.

Thanks, Glam. Sorry to scare you, and sorry I haven't been in touch to let you know what has been happening.

I haven't met with the diabetic counselor yet

There should be a lot more detail when you do meet with her. Have your list of questions! In the meantime I wouldn't worry, you are not crazy out of range.

I'm worried because I have to meet with a doctor in my practice who I haven't met yet before I can meet with the diabetic counselor, and I'm worried that they're going to try to switch me directly to insulin. I'm certain I can't do that. I am not looking for reassurances that I can. I have major needle phobia, and the testing is already pushing me to my edge with that.

Possibly, but my allergies are reasonably under control. I had a cold a while ago, and while the cold went away, the cough didn't. It's happened to me a bunch of times before, and usually steroids will get the coughing to stop, but they're not working as well this time.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I would tell the doctor that you can't make that decision until after you meet with the diabetic counselor. Even if the doctor is a dick about it, they can't literally force you to go on insulin. It sounds like the diabetic counselor will be a big help for you.
