In other news, I have decided on a name for the cat formerly known as Spiderman. Due to his dense tabby markings making a black widow's peak, I have named him Eddie. As in Eddie Munster. It feels right.

I can feel ita giving me the stinkeye, but there is no bad way to cook eggs. I felt like a magician last summer when I realized how good egg salad is with an avocado in the mix.

Burrell, I'm sorry to hear about your cat's impending renal disease. Without being able to read labels, I'd go with Iams/Eukanuba over Hill's. But the key really is reading the labels. Here is a well-researched article (citations included at the end) written by a lay person who loves cats and has some mad research skills. [link] It was posted in a threaded forum and was bigger than a single post allowed. It is entitled "A Primer On Urinary Tract Health in Cats". Unfortunately, some of the replies including my own got mixed in between the posts that are the article, so do keep scrolling down until the end. IIRC the main focus was on FLUTD but did also include information pertinent to renal failure. Depending on when your vet graduated, it is entirely possible that "That Woman Sez" is more educated on the topic of feline nutrition and renal health. Until recently any classes on nutrition at veterinary schools were merely seminars taught by reps from Iams or Hill's and not to be relied upon to truly educate.
