omnis, what are these magic lights, and where did you get them?
The lights are the Phillips Hue system.

You need a starter pack, which has 3 lamps and a bridge. The bridge plugs into your network. You control the lights via an iOS app (I think there is an Android app now as well). You can then purchase additional lamps, up to 50 on one bridge.
Vortex, I feel especially guilty about not having had you over yet. It's more like moving 5 boxes of books aside than just the laptop. It's possible I have too many books.
Lobster update: They were delicious and messy.
I wish Vortex could be there for you, too, Cass. She's really good at that (among all her other sterling qualities). Sending both of you hugs.
No such thing as too many books. Although...we did downsize some. And I'm finding libraries and overstuffed bookstores more intimidating and claustro. So maybe "too many" depends on the size of the container.
Someone just called 911 to complain about a funeral procession. "Like, 50 cars and motorcycles with their lights on and three cars at the back with emergency flashers on and they're going really slow and blocking intersections and OMG I almost got in like 3 accidents because of them!!"
I had to relisten to my (partially, stunned) response to make sure I won't get a rudeness complaint for explaining to this girl what a funeral procession looks like and how other cars need to be respectful and maybe find an alternate route if they don't want to be slowed down. Sheesh. I couldn't even make this stuff up.
Vortex, I feel especially guilty about not having had you over yet
No guilt! Not allowed! And for the record, you have invited me over, I just haven't been able to come.
It's possible I have too many books.
I know all of these words, but they don't make any sense together.
Shaking head in an up and down motion at a number of posts, shaking my head in another direction after reading e_o's post.
Oh Cass, I'm sorry to hear you've been a sad place.
Cass, lots of warm thoughts to you.
