The word dramatic pause is satiety. Which I've always pronounced SAY-she-uh-tee, to align with satiated. But no, it's suh-TAY-i-tee. Which I think is dumb-sounding. But whatever.
It was only a few years ago that I learned how that should be pronounced, so you are not alone! I used to pronounce it "fullness" because I was never sure.
I would have pronounced satiety to relate to satiated as well. It makes sense. But then, this is English, which doesn't even make sense to the natives.
grumble
...still think it sounds dumb...

Thank you. I am validated.
Yeah, and I think I had a third pronunciation for it: suh-SHI-i-tee. Interesting that.
SAY-she-ate-tee.
It's starting not to sound like a word anymore.
More than one pronunciation of 'ancient' wigs me as well. Feels so wrong.

At least you're validating the "sh" sound.
What other pronunciations are there for "ancient"? AYN-chint.

I literally learned the correct pronunciation from the Simpsons. No, really. Homer ordered a subliminal weight-loss tape, but they sent him an increase-your-vocabulary tape instead. And one of the words he used was "satiety."
Thanks, Simpsons!
