Curling up on the couch with the leftover mini-Reese's and beer is not a long-term strategy.
Excellent strategy! My friend here just went through the same thing, actually on two houses because she was living in one and renting out the other when the RE market crashed. The banks did not seek the deficit from her. She is still reeling in the feeling a failure zone a bit, but vodka and bad boys are helping her.
There are a number of people I know that had no other option too. It sucks, but you have lots and lots of company.
eta: To repeat, no other choice! It isn't like you or so many others planned on ever having to do the deed in lieu route.
vodka and bad boys are helping her.
Vodka and Bad Boys would be a great band name.
After everything went wrong and M. died, I sold my house to a real estate flipper, just to be able to move on. I walked away with a check for $79. Seventy-nine dollars, for ten years of my life. It was like he handed me a note that said 'This is what you're worth, you loser.'
Sometimes you've just got to walk away and close the door, and it's hard and it's sad. But it's not a failure, Maria. You're doing what you need to do.
You all just made me cry. I can never, ever tell you how much you've helped me--now as well as in the past.
This community of ours is so freaking awesome.
Hugs Maria. You do what you gotta do to get through the days.
Maria - much love as you work your way through this. Wish I could do more than send support from such a distance.
So sorry, Marie. You ju st deal how you have to now
