Seriously, you guys, Crazytown sucks. It doesn't even have a Dunkin Donuts, and the only bar closes at 11 p.m.

Our wings are not tired.

and he deserves most of the credit for the change in his work circumstance. I was just there to encourage him and edit his resume and cover letter.

I'd bet anything that TCG values your support more than you indicate here. I've no doubt he considers you an equal partner in life.

To share the in-law crazy, my first MIL was a member of crazy town too. When she came to our wedding and met my mother for the first time she literally said to her, "we both know that your daughter is getting the better deal here." How my dear mother managed to not slug her is beyond me, but she was polite. She used to say such charming things as, a son is a son till he takes a wife. She never did warm up to me. I can't say it bothered me, but it confused me because he always put me on a pedestal. Then again, that was likely the problem.

My current in-laws all adore me, as I do them, so there is that.

I know you know this, sj, but really only TCG matters. I hope you can find a way to insulate yourself.

And always remember I am here if you need an alibi.

Yes, that's what I was trying to say. sj, of course he deserves credit for improving his job situation -- no doubt about it. But it sure helps that he had you by his side, for all kinds of reasons: emotional support, encouragement, someone to share hopes and dreams with (and editing his resume & cover letter, too!). Having you in his life is a GOOD thing for him. You are NOT the burden his mother is making you out to be.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Thanks, everyone. I don't know what people do who don't have buffistas in their life.

Compassionately intolerant

Seriously.

My compromise for today was to just disconnect from everything.

One of the walkers just picked Cagney up to go to the photo shoot without me. It was good of him to pick the little guy up so I don't have to deal with co-worker I really don't want to deal with.

The owner sent me a nice message about how indispensible I am to her and the company...so that was nice. And I could hear her voice in the apology from co-worker.

With everything else going on in my life, I feel as if there is no light on my path. No where to go.

Then, a 'helpful' neighbor came by, exclaimed "Oh my GOD, you look awful! Are you sick?" and then proceeded to ask me if she could have the flower pots in my yard...because her daughter is moving in with her boyfriend and 'they don't have anything.'

I can just imagine the daughter being psyched that her mother pilfered flowerpots from a neighbor's yard! I had to say no _three_ times.

I swear. Everyone has lost their damn minds.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I don't know what people do who don't have buffistas in their life.

They get end up seeking to fill the void in their lives by going to vampire bordellos to get suck jobs. Or they spend a lot more money than we do on therapists. Or they become bitter and angry and project their issues onto others.

Bonny, that is ridiculously rude. I missed whatever you deleted this morning, but whatever it is, all the ~ma.

One example of how TCG's life is better with me is that we have cupcakes for dessert! Because I stopped at the farmer's market on the way home and bought them. There still isn't much in terms of veg at the farmer's market, and I was there at the tail end when lots of people were out of stuff or had gone home already. But I bought a pumpkin cupcake, a margarita cupcake, and some fresh mint.

ETA: I t heart Windsparrow.

I think a cupcake farmers' market is a SPLENDID idea.

ION, for those who don't follow my grousing on FB: I came home to a summons for jury duty. First time in my life. I genuinely don't mind, except this year of all years, I would prefer to save my time off to get married and take a honeymoon. (And then Cindy asked me if my company treats jury duty time differently than vacation/sick time, and said that the last time she worked for someone else, they didn't count jury duty against vacation/sick time. I didn't even think about that. I guess I'll have to see. [I suspect we don't have an official policy, because everything about that place is a little unorganized.])

Cupcake ATMs are totally a thing.
