So I brushed my teeth and rinsed my mouth out, 2 things I wasn't supposed to do until 24 hours after the tooth extraction. I already called the oral surgeon and asked them if I messed up badly, it looks like there's a blood clot. They indicated things should be fine but to watch out for things.
So now I have to find something to distract myself from checking my mouth all the time and obessing over this. I also called Will to let him know how I was doing and then I called Mom to fret. She was getting ready to take E to school so I got to talk to him a bit. E thinks the tooth fairy should bring me $100 becuase I had to have my tooth pulled.
I doubt you did any harm, asyke. If it starts to bleed, bite on a wet teabag. The tannic acid in black tea plus the pressure will help it clot.

Also grits. They're a soft food, sure, but the tiny bits WILL get stuck. Learn from my mistake.

When my kids had their wisdom teeth pulled, they each got big tooth fairy bonuses.
I also echo the wet black tea bag and nothing with small bits. I had a tooth pulled a while back and the doc gave me this cool syringe link thing to irrigate the area - it had a small curved spout on the end. I loved that thing.
I've followed up percoset and vicodin with ambien, with no problems. (Not at the same time!)
But I have a high drug tolerance. My doc has worked extensively on my insomnia meds, and they're tweaked to such a high levels that most people would fall asleep before they'd even made it from the bathroom to bed.

I woke up from a pain meds induced nap and went to check on the extraction site - it looked okay the last time I looked. And now there's a piece of tooth or root or something poking out and no sign of a blood clot. Of course I discover this 3 minutes AFTER the oral surgeon's office closed so I called the after hours number and I'm waiting for a call back.
It looks almost like a baby tooth. I Getting this tooth taken care of is like to dealing with Hydra or something. As soon as I think I'm getting this fixed another thing happens.
