You got all kinds of learnin' and you made me look the fool without tryin', and yet here I am with a gun to your head. That's 'cause I got people with me. People who trust each other, who do for each other, and ain't always lookin' for the advantage.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

So, somebody posted an anonymous threat about a shooting on campus tomorrow. The university keeps sending out alerts to us, telling us that they are keeping an eye on the situation, and that campus will be open tomorrow as usual, and that they have no idea who posted the threat or whether it's serious or not. Um?

And now I got an email from a student, asking whether we're going to be having class tomorrow, because he doesn't feel comfortable leaving the dorms.

Our wings are not tired.

I dreamed of hanging out with Melisa several times after she passed. It was very homey and comforting.

I don't often have Stephen visit my dreams anymore, but I always find it comforting.

Hi there! I'm back in Delray Beach. Head still spinning from packing and traveling and such. Had a beautiful week with DH in Otter Lake. He arrived the perfect time. Peak color until all the leaves were gone, (and the skies were grey). Great trip back. Didn't visit all those I wanted to see by far, but did stay with SIL and family and saw my niece and one of my basketball sons in GA. Actually niece and son are close to the same age and he is getting her tickets to his games and such. So maybe new friends there. Went coastal and did the Cape May - Lewes ferry and Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Just a perfect trip.

At the moment both my boys are here to see me, but both living elsewhere so I have a new stage of life called me and DH time.

Life is pretty cool right now. Still huge stresses, but I am calm nonetheless.

~ma and love to all. I have lurked but too crazed to respond.

Oh, they've got to be kidding. Just go this email about the policy for what to do in an active shooter situation:

The 5 Outs: Surviving an Active Shooter Program include the following steps to protect yourself if an active shooter is in your vicinity:

GET OUT of the area to somewhere safe. Leave the room and go in the opposite direction from any shooter.

CALL OUT to 911. Give as many details about what you saw or heard and your current location. Do not assume that someone else has called – you may have new information for the police.

HIDE OUT. If you cannot leave, turn out the lights of the room you are in, and hide until help arrives. Avoid hallways, turn your cell phone on silent, and remain as quiet as possible.

KEEP OUT. Lock, block, or barricade the door with any available furniture.

TAKE OUT. This is a last resort when you have no other option, this is the life or death situation. Attempt to take out the shooter however you can.

This is not helpful.

Oh, and they reminded us that, in the event of an emergency, we'll all get a text message.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I was really hoping that last one would be "defuse the situation by ordering the shooter a pizza".

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I'm so glad that you now know not to run towards the shooter.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I'm so glad that you now know not to run towards the shooter.

And not to call 912.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

This is not helpful.

In the freaking slightest.

I'm really not sure how to even react to that.
