Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Epic, thank you. I'm supposed to be leaving Wednesday for an extended birthday weekend at Mom's, and I really am looking forward to just running away from everything for a few days. However, I have a feeling that my plans are going to get interrupted by the need to go in for more tests.
We really do get all sorts of awesome things at the bookstore. Sometimes even books that only came out a few weeks before. I bought myself a hardcover of Casual Vacancy by JK Rowlings a couple of weeks ago, and I currently have a copy of Raymond Chandler's Complete Short Stories waiting for me
Sean: I don't have good advice, but am so happy to hear that prospects seem to be opening up. Lately my take on employment is less "do what you love" than "find a place where you can be happy and like the people around you and then work there" which isn't super helpful. Having an engineering background never hurts, tho, and seems like it would open a LOT of nice doors.
IOMeN: I have some good news! Finally got that ultrasound and no ovarian cyst, most likely what was seen on the MRI was a somewhat awkward attempt at ovulation which totally resolved. Have follow up/surgical consult on the hip pain (labral tear) and of course surgeon is way gung ho on surgery and has already referred me to surgical scheduling. I'm not 100% onboard yet, too many possible complications and negative outcomes, but I want to hear her full pitch. And I am 100% onboard for surgical removal of the adenoma growing on my liver. Want that gone. Still crossing my fingers and hoping that it can be removed without sacrificing my gallbladder. That's another month or so out for yet another MRI before going in.
Fingers crossed for a clean getaway, sj!

Well, then, I'm ready for One Salt Sea by Seanan Maguire - no wait, since she's Buffista adjacent I try to pay full-price for her stuff. Oh, I've been catching up on Sue Grafton's "alphabet" mysteries (what can I say, they make really good "bathroom books"). I'm currently on "F is for Fugitive", so if you see "G" or "H" those'd be good to have (pretty sure I already read "I", and "J" is in my car waiting for me). I wouldn't mind steeply discounted Rowling/Galbraith either if you see them again. Oh! If you see a Code Name Verity or any of the Montmaray books - I read them from the library and I'd like to have my very own copies of any/all of them. See, I knew narrowing them down would be problematic! And of course, feel free to ignore me - you're not my personal shopper!
Happy early birthday - I wish you cake and peacefulness!
Here's to continued good information and lessened pain, Erin!
Epic, I will keep an eye out tonight. In related news if anyone is looking for hardcovers of the Dune series, we have a ton of library editions that were recently culled from our library.
erin, yay good news! Good luck with your meeting with the surgeon.
Tea: I guess I should stop waiting for people to get back to me and actually jump in the shower so I can be at the library on time. Anyone want to take a bet on whether they'll call me back as soon as I get in the shower or as soon as I'm with a customer?
Yay for no ovarian cysts, erin_obscure! I hope whatever surgical options you end up going with work as you wish.
sj, I'm sorry the situation's stretching out so long.
I am so sorry, Aims, Miracle and Em. So sorry.
And, sj, I'm sorry that a difficult situation is going to take even more.
So if I accept the next pre-approved credit card application in Dolores' name that appears in my mailbox, that'd be cool, right?
Only if you pay the bill. Delores cares about her credit rating, I've heard.
Edit: Ginger, I get to try your cookies next week! Capt is baking this weekend.
Sean,
Saw this and thought it might be pertinent.

Aims and fam,
I am so sorry.
