Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

That's one of the things I'm doing to think about it - going through the majors at the colleges I might transfer to and looking at the required classes.

This is a really good idea. (I really have no good suggestions about majors. Maybe think about engineering? There's creativity and design and problem-solving in that, and good money once you graduate.)

Not flying through ORD -- does not compute. I thought it was a law that every flight has to go through Chicago O'Hare, Atlanta, Dallas, or Denver.

For me, every flight goes through Philadelphia, Detroit, or Washington National, because those are the only three places that flights from my tiny local airport go.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

One of my friends was a double major business/theater. It combine what he loved, with a practical piece - that was needed in his creative field. Engineering fields that already combine stuff you know ( building /electrical) is another thing to think about. And then there is the advice of my father. He said he would always higher a liberal arts major over a business major because LA majors had t learn to think

so questions, not really an answer, but I hope that helps.

Glad you got some rest if not real relief,Typo

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

That's one of the things I'm doing to think about it - going through the majors at the colleges I might transfer to and looking at the required classes.

There may even be people you can talk to at those colleges about what they'll actually take as transfers. Not all colleges will take all classes as transfer credit, ime.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Thanks, Ginger! I have passed the recipe along.

I hope the fun part of your vacations starts soon, ND.

Sean, I'd definitely look into a career counselor. And I've heard of (made took?) that test. Figuring out what you want to do is hard but necessary.

I purposefully took off from work an hour before we closed today so I could get in some puppy time and still make it to my yoga class tonight. Because I think it'll be cheaper than a trial for murdering someone. Anyone.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Sean,

also not to make your search more complicated, but you often can major in one thing and minor in another.

I know various people who have majored in the arts (visual, dance, music) who also minored in business because they wanted to have a fall back if their first love didn't pan out.

There is, conveniently enough, a general roadmap for transferring into the Cal State or UC systems. That's what I've been picking my classes from so far, from the general transfer requirements. The only things so far that don't transfer (at least to the CS/UC systems) are my math classes, just because it's remedial (for college) math. I have to finish this session, and take one more class before I can take basic college level algebra, and starting hitting math classes that transfer.

I am looking at a small handful of out of state colleges as transfer possibilities, or even colleges outside of LA, but I would be sad to leave this place.

For shits and grins, I've even looked at the transfer requirements to Harvard, and am seriously considering applying, just to see what happens. Because Harvard.

I've talked to a few of the more artsy majors, and minoring/dual majoring in business is indeed a popular choice.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

My BFF double majored in art and business. Now she's an art/UX director at a small publishing firm, doing what she loves. It seems like it was a good combo for her.

ND, I'm sorry about the travel problems.

I want to go to a water park. If I can't really go anywhere on vacation, then I want to at least do fun stuff around here. It's not that far to Hersheypark. Can't find anyone to go with me, though. I'm OK with restaurants and movies on my own, but I'm not sure I'd really like going to Hersheypark by myself.

Because books.

Oh man, I'd love to go to Hershey with you, Hil, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. It's not far for me, either.
