Illyria: We cling to what is gone. Is there anything in this life but grief? Wesley: There's love. There's hope...for some. There's hope that you'll find something worthy...that your life will lead you to some joy...that after everything...you can still be surprised. Illyria: Is that enough? Is that enough to live on?

Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I am knee-deep in wedding reading whatnot these days.

I edited to give you a link to the passage from Ruth, which I love dearly.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

Lovely for the single folks in the audience.

Eta: I personally might do some judicious editing.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Good one, Steph. (And Trudy is largely correct about Song of Solomon).

And like Connie said, Book of Ruth. That was the first to pop into my mind (after 1 Corinthians, of course).

Found these:

Colossians 3:14

And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

1 Peter 4:8

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

Ephesians 4:2

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

We used to sit in the balcony reading Song of Solomon during the boring parts in church.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

DJ,

I laughed ruefully. I did.

brillig

Well, a reading for a wedding presumes a couple is the primary audience.

Of course, and I by no means mean to suggest that the message should be "this is a life choice no better or worse than any other and really no big deal". But I do kind of think the pity can be left implied.

Brenda, I feel you (consensually only, of course). But remember there's also Paul's advice that it's better to remain single. There's something for everyone in there!

bonny, obviously won't be sending those verses over for your context.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Epic made me snort. Twice.

DJ!!!! I am still bummed I didn't get to smish I's little face last time y'all were here, what with the crazy and the running around and the crazy. But I did get to hang with you in all your sequined unicorn glory, and that was a delight as always.

Continued kitty~ma to Arthur and a side helping to Zen's Battle Cat.

Hi, kind of tipsy. It's been kind of a good week; I got the water board to reduce my bill from $335 to $77, dude I'm chatting with responding forthrightly and thoughtfully*, and we just had a way overdue "clearing the air" meeting for work with beer and pizza. OMG thank god. I'm no longer the sole conduit and the one trying to do all the organizational work. Hallelu.

* basically, he very much wants to be partnered and settled, but maybe not right now and also wants to be very sure that the person is right for him (ex-wife cheated on him and was generally not very nice, apparently). So we're going to move it to fb and start with the premise of friends, and see what happens. I just have to stay honest with myself and him.

Oops, gotta go.
