They're starting the draw of Hubby's bone marrow cells today. They want to get as many as they can before the response to the growth hormones they were pumping into him wears off. Apparently growth hormones in a grown person hurt a lot. Once they've got the bone marrow, they wave mystic herbs and chant obscure spells over them, then put him in isolation for a while to start replacing them after running him through high doses of his current chemo drugs in what's called the Kill Cycle. This will kill his bone marrow, then they put the new and improved bone marrow back. And then we'll see.

Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Scary stuff, Connie. From what I have read it really has had good results and they are doing this more and more often. Miracle of modern science and all that. Much ~ma for success.
The doctor's are predominately positive. This is his last chance, but it's a good chance. We'll just have to see how long it can beat the cancer back and hope there are better options if/when it comes back.
sucessfull mystical spell~ma!
Marrow~ma, Connie!
A friend went through the same thing Connie, and it has saved his life. For reals.
Morrow~ma!!
So, being a menopausal woman of 53, my hair is thinning. It's finally bugging me. I am not someone who will go to a salon and drop dozens of dollars on a regular basis, so I'd like to know what sorts of things work that I could find in the supermarket/drug store. The color's hanging in there well, and I'm seeing more silver than grey, but if the hair's not there it can't be nicely glittery in the sun.
Start with a volumizing shampoo, then I have gotten good volume from BigSexyHair's Root Pump and Aveda's Volumizing spray.
Dry shampoo will cut down on shine, but I use it (Tresemme, cheap, and smells nice!) not only for when I have lank unwashed hair, but when I am doing a style that demands some grit and fluff in the hair.
Is your hair fine, Connie? Strix's advice seems good for hair that has gotten thinner and finer. But if your hair has that Witchy Poo quality mine can get, then my advice is the opposite: coat it with coconut oil for an hour or more before you wash it and it will be soft and luxurious feeling again. I often slather it with oil and then put it in a braid or a bun and it looks fine all day, then I wash it in the evening.
