Molasses chews are cookies? I am intrigued.
Liese, check the traffic cameras for road conditions before you leave in the morning. And grab that key.
Y'all, I had a good night at work tonight! I got stuck doing shoes, just me and one other more experienced person, and after we'd been at it for, like, three or four hours everyone else ended up in the department next to us and the supervisor running the inventory calls over to us that we're doing great, normally they have six people on shoes and its amazing that we're almost done. So that was nice, but I figure it was mostly the experienced person carrying me because the magic counting machine tells me my piece-per-hour rate is and it's not that high. So, we finish up and I walk out of the store with a different (I think) one of the supervisors when we are all done and he tells me specifically that I did well and he's happy with my work and asks if I am scheduled for the next store like this! So pleasant to get a little pat on the back.
It's snowing and I have to walk to work. Or see which neighbor is up when Im ready and beg a ride. Uhg.
All sorts of delayed openings here. I wish my kid understood the meaning of sleeping in.
Wheee! Cashing in more neighborly chips, getting a ride from Brian, who has worse car woes than me (fender bender totalled his car but he has a loaner. Oy, that boy and his luck.)
I got the key!
I'm looking at the traffic cameras right now, but it's dark! I can't really tell anything. It's still rain here, but the winter weather warning dealio says the snow level will drop to my elevation by 8. And on the radar, I see a big swath of snow which is not yet to my destination, but will clearly cross my whole route. I don't know!
Ok, I'm off. Since it's a two hour commute, the snow is supposed to have started by the time I get there so if it looks dodgy I can just turn around. But I suspect I'll be off tomorrow, so I'm going to try to get today in if I can.
This is Luddite-ridiculous, because all of the information is in the database (it better be, or I've screwed up), but I love that I can reach into my drawer and pull out the notebook with the meeting notes from last June nearly instantly. Because I remembered what style of notebook I had at the meeting, not because I remembered the date.
I am at work! In an office! This is pretty cool. And I can apparently write about anything I want for now, including opinion pieces. Anything anyone wants me to sound off about?
Cool, Amy! Art? Literature? Why people won't use their turn signals in the rain?
I made it in. Getting home may be another question entirely, but so far so good.
I just did a piece on the anniversary of Whitney Houston's death, and her mom's interview with Oprah and her new memoir. I think I'm going to do Five Movies You Should See Before the Oscars next.
