Most people is pretty quiet right about now. Me, I see a stiff -- one I didn't have to kill myself -- I just get, the urge to, you know, do stuff. Like work out, run around, maybe get some trim if there's a willin' woman about... not that I get flush from corpses or anything. I ain't crazy.

Because books.

Do you think someone could apply by editing the job listing first?

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I am so sorry, Gris. Peace and strength to you and your whole family.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I love the idea of Chicago Style Manuel.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I really don't want to have to yell at a friend on Facebook that spouting the phrase "pharmaceutical companies don't create cures; they create customers" is both facile and not only wrong but dangerous.

Damn, buddy. Pneumonia can kill people. You can't self-will it away. It's called antibiotics.

(He also wanted to know "who creates" data on the flu. It's called the CDC, yo. Statistics aren't witchcraft. TEPPY SMASH. It's a shame, too, because he's a genial guy with whom I really enjoy geeking about about comics. But he's very VERY on the DRUGS BAD side of the continuum. My migraines disagree.)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm creating data on the flu right now AIFGawful. Hack/cough/sputter.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

My husband refuses to get a flu shot. I am retaliating by playing all of the news programs I can find about how bad the flu season is and how people should get a goddamn flu shot.

Goodness, my friend replied with "I trust my body more than the CDC, FDA, or drug companies." Dude, the CDC compiles data on real illnesses. It's not about trying to convince you of something about your body.

I'm not going to argue the point, though, because he seemed to acknowledge that drugs are useful in some instances. I'll take the win.

I actually haven't gotten one in years, mostly out of laziness, and herd immunity has saved my ass from the flu. But I'm concerned enough about this year's outbreak that I'm going to find a flu shot today.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Gris, I am so sorry. Much peace and strength to you.

I need to go away for a weekend. This next month is going to be rough. A cabin in the mountains sounds both wonderful and terrifying.

I trust my body more than the CDC, FDA, or drug companies.

That doesn't even mean anything!
