This here's a recipe for unpleasantness.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I am freaking out a bit that my "lasers making holes in my EYES" surgery is tomorrow.

LASIK? Good luck!

I haven't worked a full work week in a while. I'm trying to cope with this "be at the office five days in a row" thing.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OMG, I had forgotten about the whole five days thing!

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I'm trying to cope with this "be at the office five days in a row" thing.

I'm so grateful this is my short week (I work 9 hour days and get every other Friday off). Next week will be a bear, though.

ION, my mom is freaking out because she caught the cold that's going around. Wants to go to the doctor right away, argh. For a former nurse, she's amazingly bad at knowing what helps her medical situation--basically she wants a pill to make everything better.

Hah. At least I'm avoiding a five day work week?

My vision is too bad for LASIK (I'm blind like a bat) and so I'm getting implantable contact lenses. It's basically what they do when people have cataracts, but without removing a cataract first. The first step is to get a hole lasered in my eyes, for some sort of pressure equalizing. Then next week, implantation (I DO get Valium for that)

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Community is not on Netflix, but I just bought the first three seasons on Amazon. $9.99 per season, seemed like a great deal!

I think you will not regret this decision.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm getting implantable contact lenses.

Plastic! Plastic in new places!

I just had tiny steroid pill-things implanted in my bad eye. (They dissolved over a period of weeks.)

meara's gonna be a cyborg!

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

One of the things I did today was to buy a lifetime Crowded House Fan Club membership. I am both proud and shamed by this fact.

There's no shame in that!

I'm trying to cope with this "be at the office five days in a row" thing.

I've already had a 5 day week of 8 - 12 hour days. When did January become a busy theatre month? I used to spend most of the month catching up on tv shows and not eating anything more expensive than PB&J.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

lisah, that's so horrible about your co-worker's son. What a nightmare.

I like winter. This past weekend aside, I tend to feel sort of quiet and contemplative, which is often a good head space for me.

Right there with you, Calli. Winter is about hot soup and warm blankets and snuggling on the couch, and going for brisk chill walks that don't make you want to die like the same walk would do in July, and then coming home and warming up again. Winter is the time when I feel like I really appreciate my house, and the ways in which it shelters and comforts me. (I suppose it helps that we did a bunch of house stuff this weekend: hanging pictures, putting up shelves, organizing closets, etc. It's nice to do useful work that makes your home feel homier.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OMFG, I finally got all my ducks in a row around the Great Clusterfuck of 2013 (god willing this is the biggest of the year), which included an email to literally 12 people in five departments (requiring responses), finally felt ready to call the outside party and confess all, and..... it was fine. Totally fine! They don't care at all.

I have spent DAYS on this. As has my boss. And five minutes later, everything is fine.
