Tara: Do you have any books on robots? Giles: Oh, yes, dozens. There's a lot of research to be done in order to--no, I'm lying. Haven't got squat. I just like watching Xander squirm.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Lee, I had the same thing happen after my root canal. It happens. What AB did they give you instead? And do you have pain meds?

I was actually kind of geekily pleased to have have something to add to the allergies to medicine part of my med records. They gave me amoxicillian instead, and I can already tell that is working much better.

If my experience is any guide, for all future dental antibiotic needs, they will try to give you clindamycin, and then get irritated when you tell them you're allergic. That damn antibiotic is their favorite one to prescribe.

My New Year's Day so far has involved fighting with our internet provider to figure out why our 5 Mbps connection is currently loafing along about about 600 kbps. Which makes downloading TV pretty damn difficult.

So far, no luck, but they say they will call back.

Librarian Warlord

Happy new year, all! Skipping lots of posts to say that I think my niece and nephew will be busking today in Santa Monica in the 2-4 slot . . .

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Really, I should say I know other people have worse problems.

Jesse, tell me more about this ham.

It's just a little boneless ham I bought. I'm going to put spicy mustard on it and heat!

But... technically popcorn IS whole-grain!

This is what I'm saying.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

I'm watching a Graham Norton episode and yet more music I have no idea of, but have cheerily made their dent in the music industry anyway--Girls Aloud. What does a five woman group have to do to not look like they're standing around, especially when they're dressed in nightclub gear, meaning very high heels and two in skirts tight enough that their choreography is stilted?

Their song "Biology" is actually quite good, though the video clip will not help with your question. (I recommend avoiding their cover, with the Sugababes, of "Walk This Way".)

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

And the boys are gone. Thanks for putting up with my chaparone and post. Sounds like they had a good time. They still didn't eat all that much. Oh well, glad I didn't get fancy food for them.

I'm thinking a nap sounds good.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm used to girl groups being more distinct and looking busier than boy bands. Which is probably biased selection more than anything else, but there you go.

Catching up on Raising Hope, and I have to say--Virginia and Burt are one of my favourite sitcom couples. They love each other so much--it's rare that a plot hinges on a relationship or communication issue (and when they do, it's ore often over-support than self-defence).

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

One Direction basically stands around. But they all have different hair.

brillig

It a glorious, no-clouds, full-out sunny day here. Stuff is melting and sliding off roofs all over, and the pavements are dissolving snow as fast as the dark patches can gather radiation. I may need to take out the garbage just so I can bask.

edit: Of course, it's also going to be cold as frozen ass tonight, but them's the breaks in a Utah January.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

E, our yearly Xmas guest made us Manhattans last night. Yum. We then lit a fire in the fireplace and watched The Big Lebowski while eating fancy desserts from Porto's. A very nice low-key night.
