Ah. Bibliotherapy at its finest.
I'm backing up my computer again. It took hours last time (20 days ago). I wonder how long it will take this time? Should be shorter, yes?
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Yikes, that's too close to home, Jesse. What were you thinking, Jesse's Mom?
I did see that after the St. Bernard died, my sister printed out an email I'd sent her several years ago, with the text of that Rudyard Kipling poem, the one with the line "never give your heart to a dog to tear".
In other news, I have a working washing machine again! And my new Kindle arrived! I splurged after Christmas and bought myself a Paperwhite, and it's so wee and light! I love it already.
I think there's no way I'm actually going to this party tonight. If only it weren't a 45 minute bus ride away! If it were next door, I'd probably go, but ugh. But I want to be social! But maybe not enough to actually do it.

I'm sure she thought it was nice (appropriate/comforting), which it was, but still. You know.
Jesse, I hate that kind of dilemma.
Which is why I'm having people come to my house tonight.
I did some work, but then I stopped. Now I'm reminding myself I need to go to the store and buy stamps, and dryel, and soda.
Last rant of the year! So I stayed at the office until about 10 minutes before 4 and then gave up on mail delivery. I checked with the tellers in the bank downstairs and they said they never saw mail being delivered, just FedEx. So I went back to the post office to attempt to get my package. They called the carrier and the lying sack of #$%& claimed he attempted delivery but my office was closed. Um, G gets in at 6:30am and I just left 2 minutes ago. He can go back again if someone is there... So I drive back in the 1 minute it takes to get there and the mail vehicle pulls in. Swears he was there a couple hours ago and the lights were all out in my office. Yeah right buddy, you are so busted. But, I Have My Nook! Charging now, then I am going to be a bum the rest of the year. Whee!

I hate that shit. My UPS delivery guy just did that to me last week, too -- "attempted delivery," but no notice or anything, and I don't actually believe that they couldn't leave it, since someone is generally home in the building.
....so the Call The Midwife Christmas special was not the thing to watch to stop crying.
Yeah all carriers do this. If the route gets too tough, they skip inconvenient stops and claim they "attempted delivery".
Oops, I could have told you that last night, Jesse.
Thai food ordered, leaving to pick it up in 5. And then I shall come home and start the laundry and eat.
