I also have pillow angst, but my problem is how one sustainably disposes of old pillows, so I still have my old horrible no good pillows. I too am thinking of down, since I assume that would mean less frequent disposal, and also down is biodegradable.

Oh, that's an interesting question.
I think down is too squishy for me.
For a long time my disposal pattern was "give the dead pillow to the children," but each child now has two pillows and I am finished reproducing.
I'm currently doing a lot of replacing things because my stuff is old and starting to become unusable. New monitor. New slow cooker. New sheets. New pots. Just picked up new frying pans this afternoon.
I tried to do some work, and it was boring, so I'm watching Magic Mike.
A quick google suggests animal shelters. Someday I'm going to call my vet and see if there is anything they can do with Homer's leftover food and pills, so I'll ask them if they want the pillows.
If you do go for down pillows/comforters/anything, check where they're from : [link]
Wow, the weather here is really only good from inside: big fluffy clumps of snow coming down, an inch of slush on the ground.
I would only buy down if I never, ever wanted to breathe again.
Want to know what I got for Christmas? A pinched nerve in my back! I spent 3 days doing my best Tim Conway/oldest man routine which included a trek through O'Hare. At one point I stopped to lay down on a bench and it took me 10 minutes to figure out how to get back up. I knew walking like that was going to stress the muscles in my back but I had no idea how sore my hips would be. Ouch. At least the nerve pain is mostly gone. I watched today's matinee standing up in the cry booth so that I wouldn't end up bent over again from sitting too long. I'm hoping the muscles recover fairly quickly because Jan 1 will be my only day off for a while.
Oh, Ouch, aurelia! Not a good way to end or start the year!
