One of the tube feeding moms I know has a kid whose food won't run through a Joey pump. But that's the only thing her insurance will pay for. If she uses a Zevex pump, it's $200 out of pocket each month. Or she could go to ebay and buy a Zevex (and it's possibly illegal only because it probably was purchased with medicaid funds or the like) for like $400.

When you are buying medical supplies from ebay there is an issue with the system. I know this as a person who buys medical supplies from ebay.

Or I make my own supplies which is also freaky and possibly bad. We can't get enough split 2x2 gauze to satisfy our nurse's need to change it all the time. So I made flannel pads that are the same shape and size and we are using those. Because reusable!

I thought it was 1963, but yeah-I thought it was before my time.

I guess they think it might be because repeat use needles and syringes were used back then, and maybe not cleaned that well.

Memory is weird. About 25 years ago or so the doctor alerted my parents to some need to test for Hep C, but now I can't recall if it was just my mom, because she had Hep B, or just my mom and me, because of all my travels, or everyone in the family.
