Did they ask for a salary history? Is there any room to negotiate?
They did, and there is. I just doubt there's 20% of negotiation room. Honestly, I am okay with him holding out for another job, because his headhunter is confident that his skills are in demand and will only be more so.
But it's still irritating, and he's taking it hard.
Dana, that sucks. My DH has had a couple of rejections and they are hitting him hard. Is there any chance of negotiating upward?
Could he maybe get them up 10%? I know any pay cuts hurts.

Yeah, I don't know. He'll talk to the headhunter in the morning about it. Fortunately, we are okay money-wise so it's not a crisis. The hit to his self-confidence is worse.
Is there a COL difference between ABQ and where you are now? And if so, does that make the salary difference more or less of a problem?
It's roughly the same cost of living.
