My manager has suggested I don't work tomorrow. I'm having all sorts of conflicty feelings. In terms of the shiny shoes being too tight, I had intended to go have my brows done during lunch today, but the boss took us for Mexican instead. I could do that tomorrow morning, ship off my faulty NAS, and go earlier to the ER.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Some people can can naturally, other people, like Jessie, try very hard.
HEY!
OK, this fucking thing better be done. I really believe it is done, and also really need a drink. Which, luckily, I have at home, since I cannot deal with one more person today.
MY ONE POST SHOULD BE ENOUGH FOR YOU MS ita!!!!
I am feeling neglected. Relatedly no one likes me and I am going to eat worms.

Okay,
so student contacts me asking to do an independent exam with me (students here have to do a set of independent exams, each with a different faculty member). I set up an appointment. BTW, he is about 45-40 years old and currently is a faculty member at another university.
Student emails that he is running late, but it is late enough that I need to reschedule because it would have run into another meeting.
We reschedule. He stands me up for that appt. Wrote it down for the wrong day.
We reschedule for today. I emailed him 4 hours prior confirming the meeting. He said yes, he will be there. He shows up and apologizes: he does not want to do the exam he had planned when he first emailed me. So he thought he would "chat."
WHAT.THE.FUCK.
I am in the middle of grading and whole host of other bullshit I need to do (personal and professional) and this person (who canceled on me twice) decides to actually waste my time and show up to "chat." He isn't a friend of mine. We have met once before. I did not run to campus for the sole reason of having a "chat" with him.
Our program is small so I am concerned he will want me to be on his dissertation committee or something like that and I find this behavior pretty unacceptable.
So I wrote a note to his advisor asking if I could speak to the advisor about this.
Make him eat worms.
le nubian, that is a huge pile of WTF.
When M complains about his students sometimes, I get twinges of guilt thinking back to how careless I was as a college student -- mostly in terms of procrastinating and just flat-out not doing the reading, things like that, but I'm sure I was inconsiderate of my professors' time as well. I just hope it was never anything as bad as that! But this guy is a faculty member at another school??? Unbelievable.
So on top of Dad calling me and asking to move back to the old apartment, I find out that the HR folks emailed the list of names of qualifying applicants like three weeks ago, but addressed it wrong so the hiring official didn't get it. And now they have to get a special extension before they choose the candidate.
FML, seriously.
