I have the admin lunch and exchange tomorrow. We are only supposed to spend $10-$15 and I have a newish hire. I was thinking maybe a plant for her desk and/or a nice re-usable water glass.

Where on earth do you buy leeches?
Now that you mention it, I have no idea. I'll email the guy who brought them and find out!
Ooh, and you make it with bought eggnog?
Yes, although it only uses 1/2 cup. You need to get the full-fat kind. I made the glaze with rum, because eggnog always needs rum.
Is today your birthday, Consuela? Many happy returns!
Thank you! I share it with Emily Dickinson, Ada Lovelace, and Kenneth Branagh, apparently.
Our office Yankee Swap on Thursday included a jar with two dead leeches. True story. The person who stole them is going to take them back to the store because apparently they were supposed to be alive.
Ok, so if anyone at my department's white elephant tomorrow complains about getting Star Wars pancake molds (and seriously, WHO WOULD) I can now say to them "At least they are not dead leeches."
I made the eggnog cake with no glaze over the weekend and it was delish. For the office bake-off though, it will have a rum glaze.

Bait shops.
There is a fantastic video of a kitten playing with a dolphin on my FB feed and I have no idea how to send it to Good Stuff. #firstworldproblems
[eta: Nevermind I found the embed code! Huzzah! #firstworldproblemsolved]

I thought the picture looked like there was too much glaze, so I halved the sugar and used 1 Tbsp of rum instead of 1.5 Tbsp and was happy with the results. I like the glaze to be almost translucent.
I WANT RUM GLAZE!
Many happy returns, Consuela!
