Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Suzi, I hope it quickly helps your energy level.

'suela, there's not much any one of us can say, but I hope you catch some downtime and serenity soon.

I am all for drugs for Consuela's mom. Seems like the most humane thing. I'm reminded of my grandmother, who was eternally depressed and cranky (all her life, she tried many many meds, but especially as she was older). Once she was in the hospital and my mom saw her and was like "OMG, she's HAPPY. What is she ON, and can you give that to her ALL the time?!?" Sadly they never figured out what did it.

BOO to sucky employers. Or non-employers. Or something.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just read the following paragraph of a public person's apology, and I really like how human and culpable it is:

i was going to ignore this, at first, because it made my ears sting when i read it, and it made me mad, and embarrassed. because you’re right. i should’ve considered it more than I did. even if i came to the same conclusion, i can’t tell you with a clear conscience that i gave it all the thought i should’ve. i’ll do better next time.

It's about a writer responding to a complaint about a missed opportunity for ethnic diversity, but it's a very universally applicable paragraph.

Thank you for NOT bringing the apple cake to my office; otherwise I would have eaten it all.

brillig

They focus on getting people who are already Jewish to be more observant

I was wondering at the idea of proselytizing Jews. It never struck me as something where they were actively pursuing recruits (unlike Mormons, who practically offer signing bonuses), but couldn't think of a reason why they wouldn't be.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Decadent lunch is decadent. Strawberry waffles and hot chocolate - both with whipped cream.

Bored like a bored thing that is bored. Don't have the concentration to read my book. My battery is already at 28% on my phone. Where is that cabana boy when I need him?
