No. I'm not calling. If they can't be arsed, they'll just get an earful tomorrow or whenever. I figure they are avoiding me. And if they want to play that, well, they'll have to pay for that.

Now tagless for your comfort.

When my brother in law's grandmother had advanced Alzheimer's she was very child-like and passive. She used to sit and watch cartoons with her great-grandson and just eased through the last years of her life.

suela, I wish your mom's illness had taken that path and it wasn't so very heartbreaking and difficult to deal with.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

My grandmother was like that her last couple of years. After an initial bit of argumentativeness (and hallucinations) after her strokes, she settled down to become very quiet and usually pretty happy.

Aging is sort of terrifying. It must also be awful to be convinced that everyone is out to get you.

Thanks to all for the kind words. I had a head on desk sort of day, even though I had to be a shiny happy person. I figured out how I could get my 9th graders finals tested without printing anything -- via computer on Monday!

Grace had a soccer team party at Shakeys today which was just ...oddly good. I hate Shakeys but the pizza is not awful. One of the awesome thing about Grace's team is that the other parents get it. Like they totally know the extreme stress of a nontypical kid. They asked how things were going and I was pretty honest that it hasn't been good and they all got it.

Grace got her trophy and her yearbook and it just makes her so happy. I think maybe I will have to do GS yearbooks for the troop.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Woo hoo! Team sports!

(For those that watch The Venture Brothers I did that in the same voice that Shore Leave uses when he says "He still fought like a chubby little tiger for team sphinx!")

I'm thankful now that I didn't have to deal with any dementia for my parents. They just off and died. Admittedly, it was two years of cancer and cancer treatments for my mom which is just horrible, and my Dad's health was failing for several years. But they were both themselves and present up to the end.

Dammit. Looks like they're going to have to put a g-tube in my nephew. He's just not eating enough to gain weight.

Olivia got into a "debate" with a classmate about God. I'm proud of her for sticking to her guns and saying, "I'm allowed to believe whatever I want to believe!" After the kid told her she was stupid for not believing. That kid's off the birthday party list for sure.

Is he not gaining at all? Are they planning on doing round the clock feeds? Or will they still keep him eating orally and then feeding through the night?

Without knowing the details, I'd be hesitant unless it's medically necessary because he won't eat, not just that he's not eating enough. Is the weight loss due to other things like reflux etc. I'd ask for a consultation not just with a GI, but also a nutritionist.

If he has to get a g-tube, you could get him a tubie friend: [link] Grace has a bear (Honey Bunny) that has a gtube and a trache.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

YAY Mr Purple Dana!

I am sorry for the hard days, Consuela and Kat and Homer & Jesse and other people who had hard days.

You know, I seem to remember not being exhausted and spoonless by the end of the day, but it's beginning to be a foggy memory.

After hoping we'd gotten through at least some of the day okay, and sending some Haldol to Mom around 7, I called around 8 PM and she was still full of rage and paranoia. Blames me, doesn't believe me, etc etc. Lovely.

Well, I have made a cake, which is better than drinking too much.

I don't know how we'll get through the weekend.
